why is it that being with you means leaving you sooner or later?

...

"eat more, jimin, there's extra today." my mother spoke.

jimin bowed respectfully before continuing to eat.

"when you tell me to eat less because I'm eating your share." I rolled my eyes as I muttered under my breath, salty over my mother's biased treatment.

I heard jimin snicker beside me quietly.

"so how was your day?"

"of course it-"

"I'm asking jimin, not you." my father narrowed his eyes at me as I looked down at my food, ashamed and angered.

jimin chuckled before looking at my parents, "it was good."

his own eyes widened at the food that was home cooked like it was his first time.

"auntie... this is great!" jimin held both of his thumbs up as he spoke with food in his mouth.

my mother smiled so sweetly at jimin, "if you like it, eat more."

"yeah, don't be afraid. you are very welcomed to have dinner with us, actually. it's rare jae eun has friends over." my father added on.

"that's not true, dad..." I trailed, poking my food.

"are you referring to that taehyung guy who came to our house just to meet you?" my mother joined in.

I could feel jimin's stare on me, "taehyung came here before?"

"uh, you know, that time... sohye and you and uh, dinner..." i tried not to make it obvious about the double date because I hated my parents' reactions to it.

jimin nodded before eating his food again.

"who's taehyung?" my father asked.

"a boy." apparently, jimin and I answered him the same thing.

"a boy came?!" my father exclaimed as he slammed the utensils on the table.

"uh he didn't literally come to find me he was just-"

"I didn't know you were someone like this, jae eun ah." his eyes widened teasingly.

I emotionless and speechlessly stared at him.

"yes uncle, she's really different in school. she goes on double dates with people she barely knows." jimin chuckled but I just sent him a glare.

"you went on a what?!" both my parents shouted.

"apparently, it wasn't an actual double date. it was to help a friend of mine, indirectly." I explained, not sure of what to say.

my father made the 'tsk' sound, "I can't believe you are actually like this, tsk."

"dad I'm not even-"

"no it's fine, I understand."

"no you don't understand! it was this guy who-"

"and you will not push the blame to anyone else especially our precious jiminie. we understand you, that's all."

"our precious, jiminie?" I scoffed in disbelief as jimin just laughed.

"wow. I can't believe this."

the laughs that jimin gave off were genuine and sincere. the way he would cover his mouth every time the family sarcastically commented on their child made his stomach churn.
