Chapter 39

[ Emma's pro ]
It's been hours since we were told what happened to her. Bella arrived not long ago. It's now 8:30 and were all so tired. All day we have been sat her waiting to see if she is ok. Katie is asleep in my arms while I am sat worried. I made Katie sleep. The doctor came out and was looking around the room.

"James" I say while kicking his foot.

He looked up and I nodded over at the doctor. He stood up and picked Katie up from me so we didn't wake her. We went over to him and he looked at us like we were who he was looking for.

"Miss swan. Regina is out of surgery" he says softly.

"The look on your face shows there is a but... what is it" I say worried.

"Don't worry she is alive... but like I said would happen she is in a drug-induced coma. If she hadn't have gone in a coma she would have died. She very nearly did and that's why she was put into it. It is reversible but since it was a brain injury hers may not be"

"So were just waiting for her to die" I snapped annoyed.

"No miss swan. There is a very high chance she will come out in minimum a year but since it was a brain injury as well as lung there is a chance she won't"

"Ow my god... I can't deal with this. I need to see her" I say as tears built up higher in my eyes.

"Since she has only just been put in I have to say only one of you can go in now. It's different for every patient but she may be able to hear you in the coma" he says softly.

"Em you go. I know you want to talk to her" James says getting my attention.

"Are you sure" I asked.

"Yeah. Tell her I said hi" he says before kissing my head. I have missed him. He's like a big brother to me.

I followed the doctor to a private room. Regina was led there with her eyes closed. She looked peaceful. I went to the bed as tears slowly left my eyes.

"I'm so sorry. This is all my fault. I take back everything I said. I didn't mean it I promise. I was just angry. I promise if you come back to me I will never hurt you like I did today. I need you in my life please. I love you so much and I need you in this world. I promise I'll come see you everyday your here. If you can hear me I'm so sorry. I don't care if you hate me. I don't care if you never want to be with me again. Just come back please. I love you" I sobbed while tears were pouring out of me like Niagara falls.

I place a soft kiss on her head. My tears fell onto her cheeks and rolled down as I pulled away. She had an oxygen tube down her throat allowing her to breath. Both arms and both legs are in plaster. Across her chest is a bandage around her to keep the ribs in place. I don't know what else is broken.

"Emma" I heard a shocked voice behind me.

It was Mia. I haven't seen her since I got my kidney. She came over and looked shocked at Regina.

"Hi Mia" I say crying.

"Is that Regina? I thought she left"

"She came back. It's a long story" I say before looking back at Regina.

"I'm really sorry Emma. I know she meant a lot" she says before hugging me quick. "I have to go I'm working" she says before walking to the door.

"See ya" I say before looking at Regina again. Mia left the room.

I sat on the chair next to her and held her hand. I hope she can hear me. I sang.

This made me cry even more. I can't loose her. I spent 7 years without her and I'm not leaving this world without hearing her voice again. Neither is she.

"Hey" I heard behind me.

I looked round to see them all there. I quickly wiped my tears away and looked at Regina so they didn't see me crying. Katie stood next to me and placed her hand on Regina's.

"She was right" Katie says softly.

"About what Katie" I asked.

"She had a feeling coming back here was a mistake. She thought something bad would happen"

"It's ok. She will wake up. Soon I hope"

They all came over. Someone put there hand on my shoulder. I saw it was belle. She looked worried at me and then Regina. I knew they were close since Regina said how they were like sisters. I looked back at Regina. She just looked like she was sleeping. The image of her being hit by the car and tumbling over just played in my head. I couldn't get the thought out my head. Why did she jump in front of the car? I don't get it. She was so angry at me and then she jumped in front of the car to save me. Who does that? Questions I fear may never be answered.
