~Chapter 43~
The pair was surrounded by the dementors, their backs pressed together tightly.
"I've changed my mind I think we're dead." Louis felt fear crippling his body, really doubting their chances now that the creatures got closer.
"We might be but Lou have a little faith we're together I think that gives the best outlook for us in this situation."
"No, I'd appreciate Snape way more than you, not to be rude."
"Lou, just think about how much we've done so far, things that no adults were able to accomplish."
"I hope they'll send my body to my mother, Expecto Patronum!" Harry reacted as well both casting powerful charms. Hopefully powerful enough.
Louis felt his shield faltering and he needed to realise it was because Harry stopped and fell to the ground, his own one getting attack from behind as well.
"Come on Styles, try a little harder. Think of your memory." Harry was trying to stand while the tiny lad tried to keep the dementors away from both of them but mainly Harry, resulting himself being attacked.
"Smile for me." Louis felt the fear and coldness taking over his body. "What the hell Harry?"
"Just do it." He felt his arm giving in, almost like his charm was getting physically heavy, harder to hold and pushing his hand down. His spell disappeared both of them collapsing right away, dementors attacking without mercy.
Louis raised his gaze to Harry's and fighting to keep facing him he tried to smile. He pictured the two them just running around happily, without the need to explain why they want to be together or where they're going. They were just free and that was a beautiful thought.
Something switched in the curly-haired lad and as Louis was about to pass out he stood back up, casting another charm.
Louis watched his smile that looked happy. Like he was truly in a good place his eyes crinkling up. The image made him utterly confused.
The lanky lad kept all the horrid creatures away from both of them absolutely alone, giving him just enough time to get up as well.
Once up he casted his charm and after a few minutes they managed to make them go away. Not one hundred percent sure why they left but they gave up and did.
The pair collapsed to their knees both close to faint, Louis rested over Harry's chest who already lied down in the dirt both keeping their gaze on the patronuses.
It almost looked like Harry's stag hugged Louis' doe, the two bright shapes rubbing their necks together then walking off to the woods until neither was able to follow their forms.
"The bloody hell was that?"
Louis took a deep breath and hoisted himself up, helping the taller lad to his feet as well. "Listen Harold dementors are not supposed to be away from Azkaban at all, they're not a good sign and the fact that there were so many of them and that they attacked us means nothing bright for our future either. I think it would be the smartest to just leave this part out of our little story, let's say you fell and that's why we took longer to get back."
"I do not understand why they fought us though. We've done nothing. Do you think it was that creature they were after?"
"I don't know anything, nothing more than you at least. However I am well-aware that I also want no part in this."
The memory finished after they talked to Hagrid, Harry not giving the part where he walked Louis back to the dungeons and told a horribly corny joke that may or may not have saved him from nightmares that night.
It was odd to see it back in Harry's point of view since Louis' mind kept forcing his own on him, making everything blurry for him. As a lot of his own memories blended in with Harry's which now he was technically forced to watch. One thing for sure whoever invented legilimency probably wouldn't use it like this.
"This just raised more questions instead of answering my own ones." Umbridge appeared to be on the edge of a mental breakdown while everyone was staring at the two like they have three heads.
"Mr. Tomlinson may I see your wand." Louis closed his eyes, swearing colourfully in his mind. He wasn't sure how much the rest has seen in the taller lad's memory but apparently enough to produce questions.
"I don't see why that would be necessary." Harry stepped in truly shocking Louis, he wouldn't have guess him ever going against Dumbledore.
"It would only take a second." Louis let his shoulder fall in defeat while pulling and handing it over. The black seemed even darker truly making it appear way more astonishing than usual which already said a lot. Soon the tiny lad understood why as he placed it into the headmaster's palm the wand literally burnt him, making it drop to the ground.
They all watched as it wiggled slightly then flew straight into Louis' hand. He blinked dumbly not sure what the hell just happened while the old wizard grabbed his forearm almost painfully. He was dragged to Styles.
"Give your wand to Mr. Styles." Harry's eyes widened shaking his head. "Hell no, why would I take it?"
"Harry don't be difficult right now, I need to see it." Louis swallowed hard not wanting to burn Harry, he doesn't care for Dumbledore but the curly-haired lad should never get hurt.
"I'm sorry." He gave the wand and Harry grasped it tightly their eyes locked onto one another. "It is not doing anything." Louis looked down and saw that his wand was indeed as normal as ever unlike it was in the hands of their professor.
"So it's true, it's a pure wand?" Louis knew there's no point in denying so he simply nodded, making everyone gasp. "Really why does that say something to everyone but me?!" He almost laughed out loud on Harry's reaction but it still wasn't good enough to properly lift his mood.
"How did you find out? You didn't even listen to it." He took his wand back from Harry, pocketing it safely while waiting for a response.
"A partially pure wand that was once before owned by Helga Hufflepuff could not be held by anyone but her and two more people. The only two people who she did not just trust with her own life but with everything."
Harry's eyes became wide, possibly as big as his own ones were. He did not trust the taller lad that much, did he?
"We shall have breakfast." The meals appeared and everyone started to dig in, chatter filling the whole room while the headmaster leaned down between the boys.
"Trust and love are hard things to balance in itself. The two of will have a great challenge here but keep in mind what you're fighting for. Each other."
