Chapter Twenty-Five: Trouble Comes Knocking

Gerard eagerly kissed down Daniella’s neck as they lounged about his living room after he had returned from training; the couple had been closer than ever since they had become intimate.

“Geri,” Daniella moaned as she felt their bond tug at her stomach, she bit her lip as she tried to ignore the smirk that her boyfriend pressed against her neck and his bite mark.

The vampire had bitten her when they had first become intimate and ever since their relationship had changed, they could both feel the strange change between them that seemed almost natural.

“I’m just teasing amor… we won’t do anything,” Gerard said as he pulled back from her, she glared at him as he held her close to his chest so she couldn't escape him; she was aware that he was leaving his scent on her before he was due to head out for the night with the others to hunt.

Daniella crossed her arms as she gave up trying to get out of Gerard’s arms, she knew that he was keeping something from her and it was worrying that he hadn’t told her especially now that everything was close between them.

“Gerard… what’s going on?” Daniella asked making the vampire pause as he continued to kiss down her neck, he knew that she had sensed that there was something wrong and that he was hiding something from her even if he was doing this to protect her.

“It’s nothing for you to worry about nena,” Gerard murmured as he pulled back to smile at her, however it was clear that she didn't believe him.

The vampire kissed her lips gently before there was a knock at the door; Daniella looked at Gerard who sighed as he gently pulled away from her and moved to answer it annoyed that they had been interrupted.

Brushing her fingers through her hair, Daniella paused as she focused on the sudden sickening feeling that filled her stomach; the brunette shivered violently before a vampire stormed into the room followed by a furious Gerard.

The vampire stopped when his eyes landed on Daniella, he stared at her for a long moment before he spoke.

“So the rumours were true… you found a way to bring Catharine back,” the familiar vampire said, his eyes never leaving the brunette who looked confused.

Gerard snarled at the male vampire as he took a step towards Daniella, who stared at him; she knew this vampire from somewhere and it frightened her that she didn't know why she knew him.

“What is it you want Adrian? I have no business with the royal court,” Gerard snarled as he moved to block Daniella from his view, he knew that his Aunt and Uncle had sent him and he hoped that it wasn’t because of Daniella.

Watching Gerard stand in front of her, Daniella felt a sudden wave of memory hit her; she couldn't stop herself from hyperventilating as images from her nightmares and dreams flashed through her mind as things started to fall into place.

“Your uncle was informed that you had again taken a human for your mate and requests that you both come to the palace immediately… by your choice or by force,” Adrian said as he stared at the woman that was behind Gerard, he couldn't believe that he had managed to bring Catharine back.

Gerard hissed as he tried to keep Adrian’s attention on him and away from Daniella, he didn't like that the reason behind Catharine’s death was taking an interest in his new mate.

Gerard knew that he’d have some explaining to do when the other vampire had gone and he hoped that Daniella would understand; there was so much that he needed to say and that he needed to explain.

“I’ll be there now leave,” Gerard snarled making Adrian purse his lips as he looked at the younger vampire, he couldn't understand why he was so taken with human females; they weren’t anything special and they couldn't compete with any of the vampiress that he knew.

Once Adrian had left Gerard carefully approached Daniella, who had her eyes closed as she took deep breathes; she didn't know why Adrian had triggered such a burst of memory but she was putting it down to the fact that he was the reason that Catharine was executed.

“Dani… are you okay?” Gerard asked carefully as he knelt down in front of her, he watched as she opened her eyes slowly and stared at him; her brown eyes filled with emotion and tears.

Gerard whined deep in the back of his throat as he moved to comfort her, he pulled her into his arms as he moved to sit on the couch and cuddle his mate before she stopped him.

“Gerard, I remember,” Daniella said making the vampire look at her confused, his eyes searching her face before he realised what she was talking about but he didn't want to believe it.

“I remember being Catharine… I remember us,” Daniella said as everything started to adjust in her mind; she couldn't believe that it had taken her so long to remember.

Gerard stared at her as he took in what she was saying, he didn't know how to react to this knowledge; he had never thought that she would remember being Catharine, Cristina had even said that it wouldn’t be possible for her to remember. 

Gerard gently cupped her face as he licked his lips, he knew that he had to speak with Pep about his and Daniella’s summons to the Palace; but this meant more to him, he needed to be there for her right now.

Daniella watched him for a moment before she moved to pull him into a kiss, her hands wrapping around his neck as their lips met in a flurry of passion.

Gerard pulled her so that she straddled his hips, one of his hands pushing up her top while the other slipped into the back pocket of her skinny jeans so that he could pull her close.

“I love you so much,” Daniella said as Gerard pulled her closer, he couldn't believe that he was this lucky and that he had gotten her back; he had never thought that she would remember and now that she did it made things so much easier for the two of them.

“I love you too… nothing will come between us this time,” Gerard murmured as he kissed down her neck, he would do anything to protect her this time and he wasn’t letting anything stop him.

Removing her ankle boots, Daniella allowed Gerard to wrap her legs around his waist as he stood from the couch before he headed into the bedroom; his lips fused with Daniella’s as she slowly started to unbutton his shirt.

“I love you,” Daniella whispered as she kissed him, her fingers ran through his hair as she tilted his head back making him grin before he kissed her; he knew that there was nothing that would take her away from him this time.

“I love you too,” Gerard murmured as he pulled off her T-shirt and allowed it to fall to the floor, his lips moving eagerly to hers as she removed his shirt and threw it to the ground.

Their lips met knowing that they had to make the most of it, they couldn't avoid the royal family forever and Daniella had a feeling that once they were inside the palace that something was going to change.

She may have had her memories back but there was something nagging at her mind, some secret begging to be remembered that would change everything.
