Gerard slowly opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling, he had dreaded this day since he had been called up and now he had to leave his wife and son behind.

Gerard had moved his small family into the coven house, he wanted them safe and didn’t think the apartment was good enough.

Gerard knew that he wasn’t the only member of the coven to do so, all the members of the coven had moved back to the coven house; the five families were all now selected into the large house.

Gerard looked at Daniella who was sound asleep next to him, he sighed watching her; he hated that he had leave and he had no idea when he would be home.

Gerard shook his head pressing a kiss to the top of Daniella’s head before he rolled out of bed and moved to check on Henri who was asleep in his cot.

Henri was nearly three months old and Gerard knew he would miss his little boy growing up, he hated this but he couldn’t not go to war; it would only led to more trouble than it was worth.

Gerard watched his son, he would do everything in his power to make sure that he came home no matter what; it wasn’t going to be easy but he couldn’t leave his family behind.

“I love you,” Gerard whispered as he ignored the ache in his chest, the house was silent and he knew that no one wanted to go to war; they were all going to lose so much by doing so.

Daniella stared slowly making Gerard look at her, he hated that he would leave her behind; it made him feel sick and he didn’t want to go, he wanted to stay home with her and Henri.

Gerard watched her for a moment before he moved to get ready, he had a long day ahead of him and his stomach turned knowing that he wouldn’t be coming back for a long time.

“So this is it,” Gerard murmured as they stood at the departure area, he stared at his wife knowing that this wasn’t going to be easy; he held Henri in his arms in fear of letting him go.

Daniella nodded her head offering up a weak smile as she watched her husband with their son, she didn’t want to make this harder on him and she wasn’t sure when they would see each other again.

“I’ll write to you,” Gerard promised cuddling Henri, he didn’t know when he would get the chance to call but he could write from wherever he was being sent.

It wouldn’t be easy but he was determined to ensure that he had some way to communicate with Daniella and Henri; they were his reasons for doing this, to keep them both safe.

Daniella nodded her head peeking over at Katie and Lionel, she felt bad for the couple especially since they had a baby due in nine weeks’ time; Lionel was going to miss the birth.

“Be careful,” Daniella said stepping closer to him, she didn’t want to let him go yet and she was sure that their time was running out and she wanted to make every second count.

Gerard nodded his head pressing a kiss to Henri’s head before he handed the little boy back to his mother; he stepped closer to his wife knowing that he was going to do anything for her.

“I’ll miss you,” Gerard murmured kissing his wife, he wanted to remember everything before he left; he didn’t know what would happen after he left.

Pep watched the small family as he took a deep breath, he had said his goodbyes to his wife and three children; he had a horrible feeling that not all of the coven would be coming back from this war.

Pep had a feeling that Gerard wasn’t going to be seeing his family again, something wasn’t right about all of this.

Gerard pulled away from Daniella as the train arrived to take him away, he brushed some hair from her face as he gave her a final kiss; he didn’t know when he would get to see her again.

“I love you,” Daniella said softly, her brown eyes looking up at him tears filling her eyes as fear consumed her stomach; her mind tugging at her as she recalled the last time he had gone to war.

It had been in her first life and Daniella hated that she might never get to experience new memories with him; Gerard was her soul-mate and she truly feared losing him.

“I love you too,” Gerard whispered stepping back from Daniella and moving to collect his bag, he offered her a small smile before he walked away; they were going to come back one way or another.

Daniella watched him leave as she moved to stand beside Katie, she smiled weakly at her friend; she was going to have to get used to being without her husband for a while.

Katie sniffled as she rested a hand on her bump, she wished Lionel didn’t have to go especially when they were going to have a baby; she wanted to share that moment with him and now she wouldn’t get a chance.

“Do you think that they’ll come back?” Katie whispered watching Lionel leave with the other men, her heart ached knowing Lionel wasn’t prepared for this; he had never fought for anything in his life and now he was being sent off to war.

Daniella nodded her head looking at her friend, she was sure that they would come back; she just didn’t know when.

Daniella carefully cuddled Henri as she prepared to settle her son down, she looked around the room that she had shared with Gerard for such a short time; pressing a kiss to his head she gently put her son to bed.

“Let’s hope papa comes home soon,” Daniella whispered as she watched Henri sleep, he was so young and she feared that her son might forget his father.

Daniella took a deep breath as she heard someone knock at the door, she turned to see Cristina entering the room; she offered a weak smile knowing that the woman was suffering just as she was.

“I’m making dinner…” Cristina said looking at Daniella, it wasn’t going to be easy but they all needed to come together; Valentina, Marius and Maria were all going to miss Pep just as much as she was and she was sure they would be fine.

Daniella nodded her head, she would head downstairs soon after she had checked on Katie; she was going to keep an eye on her best friend while Lionel was away.

“They’ll be okay,” Daniella said smiling a little at Cristina, she knew that the other woman had been comforting everyone else and she was sure that the covens bond would be okay.

Cristina nodded her head gratefully, she had spent time with Katie while Carla and Patricia had bonded together with their children to comfort one another.

“Let’s hope so,” Cristina said before she left the room, she didn’t want to get mad at Daniella especially when there was little that she could have done to stop this from happening.

Daniella was a council member and she would be able to keep an eye out when the time came for news about their husbands; she was their link and Cristina was going to be keeping an eye on her.

Cristina didn’t want Daniella anything to happen to her, especially with Marc hovering about now that Gerard was gone; this war was a tool for him to get close to her and Henri.

Their only hope right now that this war between the vampires and the hunters went by quickly; it was only going to be a nightmare if it dragged itself out over the years.
