Chapter Thirty: Reunited at Last

Gerard shook the snow from his hair as he looked around the landscape, he sighed relieved that he could finally sense Daniella properly; it had felt like something was blocking her slightly earlier. 

“We’re getting close I can sense her better now,” Gerard said as Lionel appeared by his side, the small Argentine nodded as he ruffled his own hair as he looked around wondering where their mates could be in this snowy world.

It had taken them a week to get this far and the two vampires were starting to get a little bit edgy about how long their mates had been gone; they could only hope that they were okay.

“How much further?” Lionel asked curiously as Gerard started to allow the pull of his bond with Daniella to lead him; the directions that they had been given had only led up until a certain point.

Gerard sighed as he looked at his friend and shrugged, he knew that they were close and that was all that matter to him; the sooner he had Daniella back in his arms the better.

The two walked in silence for a couple of miles before they spotted a hut that stood out in the never ending whiteness of the North Pole; the two vampires knew that this was where their mates were without having to guess.

It took them a few moments to get there but they were surprised when an ebony haired vampiress opened the door for them; she tilted her head for a moment as she stared intently at Gerard.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Amelia said as she allowed the two vampires into her home, she watched them for a moment; it surprised her that it had taken them so long to get to the small hut.

“I am Amelia… and this is my mate Caius,” the vampiress said as she introduced herself as her mate walked out of the living room to join them; Gerard stared at him for a moment before he bowed his head as he realised who they were.

“There is no need for that Lord Bernabeu… we owe you Gracias,” Caius said making the two vampires look at him confused before Katie appeared from the living room; Lionel sighed relieved before going to hug his mate.

Gerard shifted nervously, he was meeting his in-laws and wasn’t happy that he had yet to be reunited with his own mate; Amelia and Caius shared a look before they excused themselves and left the hut without another word.

“She’s fine Geri… just a little drained right now,” Katie said as she nodded at the living room where Daniella was, she knew that it wasn’t her place to tell him that Daniella was pregnant.

Gerard nodded as Katie linked her fingers with Lionel’s and led him towards the kitchen, so that they could be alone; she had a feeling that the couple would want to be alone for a while.

Gerard watched them leave before he headed into the living room; he felt his heart leap as he finally laid eyes on his mate after two weeks of being apart; however he didn't miss how ill she looked when he finally saw her.

Gerard nuzzled Daniella’s neck as he held her close, she was slightly cool to touch and it worried him slightly even when she insisted that she was fine.

Daniella was wearing a pastel pink textured snuggle top and black lace trim full length pyjama bottoms since Amelia had insisted that she rest.

“I take it you know about my parents,” Daniella said making her vampire look at her, she watched him closely before he nodded, surprised that Amelia and Caius had told her so soon about the fact that they were her real parents.

“How are you taking it?” Gerard asked cautiously making Daniella sigh as she cuddled closer to her vampire, her temperature was taking it’s time to come back to normal; the brunette knew that it had something to do with the fact that she was pregnant.

“As best that I can…” Daniella said making Gerard nod as he rested his head against hers, he nuzzled her gently before she stopped him.

The brunette licked her lips as she pulled back to look at her boyfriend knowing that she needed to tell him; there would be no hiding it in a few weeks and from what Amelia had told her, she was going to need Gerard more than ever.

“I don’t want you to get upset,” Daniella said softly as she ran a hand through her hair, Gerard looked at her concerned; he could already sense that something wasn’t right with her and it worried him.

“Gerard… I’m three weeks pregnant,” Daniella said as she carefully dropped the bomb making her boyfriend stare at her, she watched him wondering how he was taking the news that he was going to be a father.

Gerard stared at his mate taken back as he tried to wrap his head around what she had said, he had never expected that he would get her pregnant while she was human; he had thought about having children but not at the cost of Daniella’s life.

“You’re sure?” Gerard asked as he carefully rested a hand on her stomach, he now knew what the disturbance in their bond was and he wasn’t quite sure how he felt about it yet.

Daniella nodded her head as she watched him, she smiled softly as his warm hand rested against her stomach; she knew that this was a shock for them but it was something that she wanted.

“What do you want to do?” Gerard asked as he remembered all the horror stories about vampire children being born; he had been surprised that Rebecca had managed to give birth to Rosalyn without any major problems.

Daniella rested her head against Gerard’s, she knew that her decision would change everything for the two of them and she hoped that he would be able to understand that she had to do this.

“We shall return to Barcelona with Daniella,” Caius said to his mate as he wrapped his arms around her, she nodded her head; they weren’t about to lose their daughter now that she was back in their lives.

Amelia looked up at the night sky and smiled to herself, she knew her daughter was strong enough to not only survive the birth but she was also strong enough to survive the change; she could only hope that Gerard would have sense to be able to change her.

“Do you think that it will be okay?” Amelia asked as she nuzzled close to her mate, she knew that they had been in hiding for a long time; a lot of vampires would have forgotten them by now and she worried what their return would mean for their daughter.

“It will be fine,” Caius reassured knowing that she was nervous, he held her close as he looked out across the land that they had called home and he knew that they had been in hiding long enough; it was time for them to make themselves known in the vampire world once again.

“Do you think Daniella will be ready?” Caius asked as he thought of their daughter, he knew that there would be a change for her; something that she would have never experienced before even if she was Gerard’s mate and expecting his child.

Amelia nodded her head as she looked up at him, her blue eyes sparkling with happiness at her daughter’s return.

“She’s stronger than she looks Caius… she is our daughter after all,” Amelia said making Caius laugh softly and nod his head; he knew that it was their time to return.
