Epilogue: A New Future

“You look beautiful,” Gerard murmured smiling at Daniella, the last year had been far from easy for the couple but somehow they had made it; he gave her a small kiss before moving to collect their daughter from her arms.

Fabia Piqué Franca had been a surprise for the couple, they hadn’t even considered the fact that Daniella was pregnant until it was rather obvious; but it didn’t mean that they were thrilled with the idea.

Henri had adapted well to being an older brother and he adored Fabia, she was only a year old now but she looked so much like Daniella that it was unbelievable.

“Not as beautiful as the bride,” Daniella teased with a smile, she looked over at Katie who was laughing with Lionel; today was their big day and she was happy for them.

Gerard snorted, admiring the green sheath halter neckline bowknot beading short cocktail dress paired with black strappy caged heeled sandals that Daniella was wearing.

Gerard rarely paid attention to any other women, he kissed his wife knowing that she was the most beautiful person in the world to him; he loved her too much to think of anyone else.

“It’s not your wedding day,” Carla teased walking past the couple, she rested a hand on her bump and she was expecting her second child with Cesc and couldn’t have been happier.

Cesc chuckled wrapping an arm around his wife, they had married earlier in the year not wanting to wait after what had happened; they knew that the world would never recover from what had happened.

“Anyone seen Lia and Henri?” Gerard asked wondering where his five year old son had disappeared to, he wasn’t even surprised that they had disappeared; he had a feeling that they were around somewhere.

Daniella rolled her eyes and balanced Fabia on her hip, she was sure that their son was keeping out of trouble; she didn’t think that he could get into any trouble at a wedding.

Henri smiled watching his mother and father, he watched them with his baby sister and he was glad that things had slowly fixed themselves and he hoped that they would never face anything like this again.

Lia sat beside him quietly, she knew that this wasn’t easy for anyone and things had been strained since most of the council members had been killed; she didn’t know much but she knew Henri worried a lot.

“I think everything will be okay now,” Lia whispered taking Henri’s hand, she smiled at her best friend knowing that it could have all been different and she didn’t like that.

Henri nodded his head, they were looking at an entire new future and things could only get better; he didn’t want to think of things getting worse.

“Let’s go and have some cake,” Henri said hearing his mother call for him, he got to his feet sure that Lionel and Katie had picked out the perfect cake.

Lia nodded her head, she smiled allowing Henri to led her towards the table were their parents had been sat; she spotted the look on her parents faces and she had a feeling that they would have to hear their teasing.

“There they are,” Carla mused, she peeked at her daughter while Henri moved towards his parents; she had a feeling that they would be watching the children marry one day.

Daniella smiled looking at Gerard, she wasn’t sure what she would have done if things hadn’t worked out like this; she had a feeling that they were extremely lucky.

“Don’t even think about it Piqué,” Cesc warned glaring at his friend, he didn’t want anyone thinking that Lia was going to marry Henri.

Gerard chuckled, he knew how protective Cesc felt about Lia and he didn’t blame him since he was the same now that he had Fabia; he was sure that nothing would ever come from the friendship their children shared.

Daniella and Carla shared an amused look, they had a feeling that whatever the future held for their children; their husbands’ were going to argue at some point.

“Why don’t you go and get me a drink amor?” Carla asked trying to ease the tension, she patted Cesc on his shoulder before he got to his feet; he pressed a kiss to the top of her head then walked away.

Gerard chuckled sitting beside Daniella, he had waited two hundred years for a moment like this and he knew that didn’t want to change a thing.

The journey he had taken from falling for Catherine and then Daniella, to having two beautiful children was enough for him and the future was only going to get better for them all.
