Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Impossible

Gerard and Lionel moved to protect their mates as the royal guard approached them, they had a feeling that not all of them would make it out alive; they had known that there was a chance that this would happen.

Daniella and Katie looked at each other as they were backed away from the approaching vampires; they had a feeling that things weren’t going to work out as well.

Gerard snarled as his coven moved to protect the two humans, he wouldn’t lose Daniella again; he didn't know how he would cope if he were to lose her again.

Gerard was tackled to the floor as the royal guard quickly moved to detain the vampire coven leaving the two humans unprotected; Gerard and Lionel struggled to get to their mates as they were pulled back.

“What should we do?” Katie asked as the two backed away from the two approaching vampires, Daniella shook her head as images of her execution flickering through her mind.

It didn't take long before the two women found themselves backed against the wall, Lionel and Gerard snarled furiously as they watched their mates being cornered.

The two vampire guards smirked at each other as Daniella took Katie’s hand in comfort, it was her fault that the brunette was about to die; if she wasn’t with Gerard then Katie wouldn’t have been brought into this mess.

Katie screamed as the two guards pounced at the two humans; however the two made contact with thin air as Daniella and Katie disappeared.

The vampire court whispered in shock as they looked at the spot where the two humans had been stood, now there was nothing; Gerard pulled himself from the guards grip as he stared at the spot where his mate had been stood.

“Dani,” Gerard whispered as Lionel pulled away from his own guard, neither of them could believe what they had just seen; no one seemed to know what had happened to the two humans.

“Where did they go?” Carla asked Cesc as he moved to her; he glared at the guard who quickly moved away from the vampiress, however her attention was on Gerard and Lionel; she worried for her two coven mates.

Pep and Cristina looked at the two vampires, they couldn't believe that this had happened, they hoped that Katie and Daniella had disappeared to; they could only hope that they were okay.

“This has to end,” Liliana said making everyone look at her, Gerard turned to look at Liliana whose blue eyes were focused on him; she offered him a sad smile as she stepped down onto the court floor away from her throne.

“All this fighting… it doesn’t matter who is with a human, the majority of you in this room where humans once,” Liliana said making her father frown as she looked directly at him; Gabriella looked at her daughter as Gerard stepped forward to speak.

“I will turn her,” Gerard said making his aunt and uncle look at him; he had never intended to leave Daniella human for long, he wanted to be with her forever.

Katie gasped as she dropped to her knees as the world around her spun, she didn't know what had happened but they were no longer in the Vampire Palace; the brunette gripped her head as she looked around, it was then that she realised that she was kneeling in snow.

“Where are we?” Katie asked as she shivered, the cold breaking through her light jumper, she turned her attention to Daniella; however she looked concerned as she realised that the brunette next to her was unconscious.

“Dani,” Katie asked worried as she moved to her friend’s side, the brunette didn't move as her friend shook her.

Un-noticed by Katie, there was someone approaching them and quickly, the dark figure stopped a few feet from Katie; who shot it a frightened look as she tried to figure out what to do.

“Leave us alone,” Katie shouted trying to sound threatening as the snow started to fall around them, Daniella didn't awaken as the figure moved closer; Katie weakly pushed herself to her feet as she prepared to fight the figure off.

“I mean you and your friend no harm, I am here to help you,” the figure said with a feminine voice, Katie swallowed as the figure lowered her hood revealing a vampiress.

Katie nodded as the woman moved towards Daniella, there was no doubt in the brunette’s mind that the woman before her was a vampire; it was the only way that she wasn’t shaking from the cold.

The vampiress stopped when she saw Daniella’s face, it was clear that she was in shock about something; Katie watched as the vampiress moved concerned to her friend.

“Daniella?” the vampiress breathed concerned as she started to check the brunette over in a panic, Katie looked confused as she watched the vampiress treat her friend.

"We must head to the cabin,” the ebony haired vampire said as she picked Daniella up, Katie nodded her head as she quickly followed after the woman that was carrying her unconscious friend.

Katie watched suspiciously as the vampiress ushered her inside, still carrying Daniella; stepping inside from the cold, the two were greeted by a man with deep brown hair and brown eyes.

Katie stiffened as she spotted the look on his face; he didn't look too happy that his mate had brought home two humans, however it didn't last long when he realised who his mate was carrying.

“Caius,” the vampiress said as he moved towards her, his eyes focused on the unconscious brunette in his mate’s arms; Katie looked at the couple confused, they clearly knew Daniella and it worried her how.

“Who are you?” Katie demanded as the two vampires fussed on her friend, they both ignored the human as the vampiress took Daniella into another room out of sight.

The male vampire turned his attention finally to Katie, who was still shivering from the cold.

“My name is Caius and she is Amelia,” the vampire said introducing himself making Katie nod as he made her sit in front of the warm fire.

“I am Katie … my friend’s name is Daniella, we’re both from Barcelona,” Katie said making Caius nod; Katie licked her lips as she watched him prepare a hot drink for her so that she wouldn’t catch a cold.

“You know about our species?” Caius commented making Katie nod as cleared her throat, she was sure that she would end up with a cold later on.

The vampire paused as he looked at her, he could smell a vampire all over Katie and another over Daniella; he had a lot of questions for her when she awoke.

“Where are we?” Katie asked making the vampire sigh as he handed her a hot drink which she took gratefully, she looked at him as she waited for an answer.

“The North Pole,” Caius said as he sat down across from Katie who stared at him shocked, she didn't know how they had gotten the 4921 miles from Barcelona or why two vampires would be living this far out.

“We are here because it is safer for us,” Caius said making Katie look at him confused, like he had just answered her thoughts.

The vampire chuckled as he listened to his mate returning, he knew that it would be a while until they could get answers about what had happened.
