Gerard ran a hand through his hair as he watched Daniella settle Henri back down to bed, he smiled sadly to himself as he leant against the door frame.
Caius’s declaration about the hunters had brought worrying thoughts to Gerard’s mind, he knew what would happen if this turned into a war.
Gerard would be expected to fight and that meant that he would be leaving his mate and son behind, an idea that he wasn’t comfortable yet with.
Daniella was everything to him and they had only been together for seven months, they were going to be getting married in July and Gerard was looking forward to it.
Henri was only three weeks old and Gerard was in awe of how much he grew each day, it seemed unreal and he didn’t want to miss a moment; he was going to change so much if this became a war.
Gerard shook his head as he turned his attention back to his mate and son; he smiled as he watched them, they were his everything and he worried that they would become targets.
Daniella wasn’t just his mate but she was also the daughter of the creator and his heir; she would be a target if the hunters made it this far.
Shaking his head, Gerard pushed off the doorframe and headed for their bedroom; his heart ached at the thought of losing Daniella or Henri, he would die before he allowed that to happen.
Daniella peeked back at Gerard as he left the room, she could sense his worry through their bond and she didn’t like it; there was so much going on right now and she feared for him.
“Sweet dreams,” Daniella whispered as she looked down at Henri, he was sleeping peacefully and she was glad; he was one of the best things in her life and he had no idea of the trouble that was brewing.

Daniella quietly stepped into the master bedroom and closed the door, her ears picking up on the sound of Gerard in the shower; she nibbled on her lip as she slowly started to change out of her red A-line straps pearls beading backless court train floor-length evening dress.
Daniella sighed in relief as she slipped out of her heels, she rubbed her feet before an idea formed in her mind; she glanced at the door knowing that she had time to pull this off.
Quickly hanging up her dress and putting her shoes away, Daniella put on her blue lace padded plunge bra and lace thong; she grinned as she pulled on her pink large rose print night robe as she heard the shower switch off.
Daniella smiled as she sat on the edge of the bed and crossed her legs, she stared at the door as she heard Gerard coming out.
“Nice shower?” Daniella asked to catch Gerard’s attention, she grinned as he stopped towelling his hair and looked at her; she could see his eyes wander over her smooth legs as he took in what she was wearing.
Gerard nodded as he looked at his mate, he had no idea where this was going but he was curious and he was a little surprised that he hadn’t seen this coming.
Daniella pushed herself to her feet and walked over to Gerard, his toned body making her lick her lips as her brown eyes mapped his chest.
Since her turning, Daniella had spent a lot of time admiring her fiancé’s body; she knew every little bump and scar that he had and it only made her love him more.
Gerard had fought hard in the past wars and Daniella was proud of him, he had done well for the clans and she was sure that he deserved his title more than any of the other vampires that she knew.
“Dani…” Gerard murmured as she stopped before him, it had been a long night and he was still tense after what had happened at the ball; Caius had seriously worried him about their future.
Daniella shook her head as she slowly opened her robe to show him the lingerie that she was wearing, she allowed it to drop to the floor before she stepped closer to Gerard.
The male vampire swallowed as he stared at her, he carefully wrapped his arms around her as she cuddled into him; her hands moving to remove him of his towel making him raise an eyebrow at her.
“It’ll be okay,” Daniella said as she brushed her lips against his, she had seen how worried he was and he wasn’t even surprised that she had picked up on how quiet he had been.
Gerard ducked down and kissed Daniella, he loved her and would do anything for her; it had been a very long time since he had felt like this.
“I love you,” Gerard breathed as he moved his fiancée back towards their bed, he couldn’t resist her especially since he could see what she was trying to do for him; he needed to forget for a few hours.

Gerard smiled softly as he looked at Daniella as she slept soundly next to him, he pressed a small kiss to her bare shoulder as he carefully rolled out of bed.
Gerard pulled on some boxers before he left the bedroom, he ran a hand through his hair as he checked on Henri, who was sleeping soundly in his own bed.
Gerard smiled as he watched his son for a moment, he closed his eyes as he listened to Henri’s soft snores; he wasn’t able to forget about what was coming.
Gerard sighed as he headed for the kitchen, he wanted nothing more than to relax but it wasn’t possible; there was something coming and he would be expected to fight.
Daniella would be left behind and Gerard was hoping that the coven would keep her safe, she was going to be busy and he was already thinking about moving her and Henri back to the coven house.
“Geri,” Daniella said as she watched her mate, she had woken when he had left their bed and she worried about what was wrong; she had her robe wrapped around her and she quickly moved to his side.
Gerard looked back at Daniella, he hadn’t meant to wake her and he had hoped that she would sleep; it had been a long day and she deserved to rest without worrying about him.
“I’ll always worry about you,” Daniella said as she cuddled into Gerard’s arms, she closed her eyes as she wondered what she could do to comfort him; it wasn’t going to be an easy future for either of them.
“I don’t want to lose you or Henri,” Gerard murmured as he held Daniella close, he loved the both so much that to lose one would destroy him; he would do anything to keep them both safe.
Gerard was sure that if he didn’t so something then something would take away his family; he couldn’t get rid of this feeling that seemed to be growing ever so slowly.
“Now listen Gerard Piqué. You won’t ever lose us, we are not going anywhere,” Daniella said as she cupped his face and made him look her in the eyes, she wished that she could take away his worries and it just wasn’t possible.
Across the room a vase filled with flowers slowly started to shake, it ratted as the couple talked and seemed to vibrate even more when Daniella got more agitated.
The sound of something crashing made the couple jump apart and Gerard looked around alarmed as he tried to find what had happened; his blue eyes staring at the broken vase confused.
“What the hell?” Daniella whispered as she stared at the broken vase wondering what had caused it to break; there had been no breeze to knock it over and it didn’t make sense.
