Gerard snarled lowly in his chest, he couldn’t believe that Marc was behind all of this and he knew that this had to end; he watched the blonde vampire that seemed to think that he had gotten away with this.

Gerard’s eyes slowly moved to Daniella, he was pleased to see his wife was okay and he could sense through their bond that she was far from pleased with what had happened.

“I never thought that it would be this easy,” Marc mused leading Daniella to the car, he kept a tight hold on her left arm knowing that he didn’t trust her to make a break for it.

Daniella glared at Marc, she was only behaving because she knew that they had Henri and she didn’t want anything to happen to her son.

“I hope you don’t mind a quick wedding… I’ll have a lot of things to do when I become emperor of the vampires,” Marc mused thinking about his new life, nothing would be able to stop him and he doubted that Daniella would refuse him; she wouldn’t want to risk her son’s life.

Daniella gritted her teeth to stop herself from snapping, she didn’t know where Henri was right now but she could only pray that he was okay; she didn’t know what she would do if she lost him as well.

“Let her go Marc,” Gerard shouted making Marc stop walking, he had been sure that Gerard had been killed and he hadn’t expected his rival to still be alive.

Daniella turned to look at her husband, she had been told that he had been killed during an explosion that had taken her apartment; she had never expected to see him alive again.

“Piqué,” Marc hissed tightening his hold on Daniella, he wasn’t going to let his dreams slip through his fingers when he was so close to getting what he wanted.

Gerard was a little surprised at the decision to call him Piqué instead of Lord Bernabeu; he had a feeling that this wasn’t going to end well.

“It’s a surprise to see you alive,” Marc said calmly, he looked over at the other male vampire and he couldn’t believe that this was happening right now; he was so close and it was all in his reach.

Daniella yelped in surprise as Marc tightened his grip, she glared at him knowing that this hadn’t been something that he had expected; she had a feeling that the tables were about to turn.

“Let go of my wife…” Gerard threatened stepping forward, he didn’t want to do anything that could lead to Daniella’s death; he could see that Marc was slightly unhinged and he didn’t like it.

Marc scoffed, he wasn’t scare of Gerard and he never had been; he had stolen everything from him and he was going to take it back by any means necessary.

“You wouldn’t risk your son’s life, would you?” Marc smirked pulling Daniella back with him, he was sure that Gerard wouldn’t be able to choose and he would get away with the brunette.

Daniella stared at Gerard, she didn’t want to think of losing her son and she wanted Gerard to choose Henri; she was sure that her son would be safer with his father.

“Henri is safe and sound with the rest of my coven,” Gerard replied simply, he wasn’t even surprised that Marc had tried to use any of this against him; he continued to edge towards the male vampire, he wasn’t going to let Marc drive him away.

Daniella stared at her husband, relief filling her as she realised that Henri was safe; she didn’t know how Gerard had done it but she knew that she was grateful that he had.

Marc looked at Gerard, this had certainly put a hole in his plans and he had no idea what to make of the fact that Gerard had been able to rescue Henri without him knowing.

Gerard looked at his wife, he knew that they both had to end this now and Marc had to pay for what he had done; he had murdered innocent people for his own needs and he couldn’t be allowed to escape.

Daniella took a deep breath before she twisted her arm out of Marc’s grip, with Henri safe there was no reason to play nice with Marc now; she glared at the monster that had caused so much trouble.

“Now, now… let’s not do anything rash,” Marc stated putting his hands up in surrender, he didn’t want any trouble and he hoped that Gerard and Daniella would leave him alive to face trial for what he had done.

Gerard slowly approached his wife, he brushed his fingers against her arm and smiled at her a little; he was glad that she was okay, he glared at Marc knowing what had to be done.

“You don’t want to do this to me… people will surely want me to face trial,” Marc bargained stumbling backwards from Gerard, he stared at the male vampire as he stalked towards him.

Daniella took a deep breath, she was now the leader of the vampire world and she knew that Marc couldn’t be allowed to live; she had to make the call while Gerard would deliver whatever sentence she passed.

“Marc van Sciver as daughter of Caius and Amelia Tanis, the new leader of the vampire realm, I sentence you to death,” Daniella announced, she steadied herself as Gerard carried out her order of execution.

Henri cuddled into Cesc’s side as the older vampire held him close, he didn’t blame him for being nervous and scared; what had happened had been a horrible and everyone was still assessing the damage that had been done.

“I want my parents,” Henri whispered making Carla look at him sadly, she had no idea how to reach Gerard and she hoped that he was okay.

No one was sure that he would find Daniella alive and they knew that Marc was crazy to think that no one would find out that he was behind all of this; the massacre was all over the news and everyone was trying to piece together how this had happened.

“They’ll be home soon,” Cesc murmured looking at the clock on the wall, it was getting late and there was still no news from Gerard or Daniella; he was sure that they would be back soon.

Henri sniffled, he had heard the news even if Cesc and Carla had tried to shield him from it; the official count was still going on but the numbers were already into their thousands for the vampires and their losses.

Lia sat by her best friend, she stared at him wishing that there was something that she could do to help him; his parents were missing and they had to stay home.

Cesc’s head snapped up as the front door opened, he sighed in relief as Gerard and Daniella step through the door; they looked exhausted and he knew that things weren’t going to be easy.

Henri clambered away from Cesc and rushed over to his parents, he had feared that he would hear news that his mother had been killed and his father consumed by grief had ended his own life to be with her.

Daniella quickly hugged Henri while Gerard offered Cesc and Carla a weak smile, it hadn’t been easy and he knew that Daniella had never wanted to sentence anyone to death but Marc was too dangerous to be left alive.

“What will happen now?” Katie asked from her own seat, she was sure it would take time to rebuild the world after what had happened that day.

Gerard looked down at his wife, he had no idea how they were all going to cope and he would support her in any way that he could; she had lost both of her parents that day.

“I have no idea,” Daniella whispered holding onto Henri, everything had changed and she was sure that they would work it out.
