Chapter Twenty-Nine: Family Matters

Daniella stared at the two vampires in front of her, she couldn't believe what she had been told but it made so much sense; she had always felt strained when it came to a relationship with Rebecca and even now she didn't miss her but she had never expected this.

“You’re my parents?” Daniella asked to be sure, her hands clutching the warm drink in her hands while she tried to wrap her mind around what she had been told.

Katie was sat next to her, the other brunette had woken when Amelia and Caius had started to tell Daniella the truth about her parentage, and she could see that this was a shock for her friend.

“We are… Rebecca and Keith were meant to tell you when you turned eighteen,” Amelia said as she watched her daughter with sad eyes, she couldn't believe that the two humans had broken their promise to them.

“Keith’s dead... Rebecca’s mate ripped his throat out before she abandoned me and Jonathon,” Daniella said softly making her parents glance at one another, they had a feeling that Rebecca had been seduced by the idea of becoming like them when they had approached her to raise Daniella for them.

“Why aren’t I like the other vampire children? I mean Rosalyn drank human blood,” Daniella said curiously, she remembered the last time that she had seen her little sister and from what Gerard had told her, baby vampires craved blood when they were born until they were at least ten years old.

Amelia licked her lips as she glanced at her mate, who sighed; they didn't expect her to know so much about their kind but they could smell her mate all over her and knew it was only a matter of time before he came for her.

“I am the first human-mate to reincarnate… as my daughter and another reincarnation, we have abilities that others of our kind don’t have,” Amelia said making Daniella swallow as she remembered how she and Katie had gotten to the North Pole.

The brunette sighed as she allowed her hand to gently trace over Gerard’s mark on her tanned neck, her mother tilting her head curiously as she watched Daniella’s action she wanted to know everything that’s he had missed in her daughter’s life.

“How long have you been with him?” Caius asked as he glanced at his mate, he had questions as well and he wanted to know why his daughter had been brought into their world without them.

Daniella blinked as she looked at her father, she found it odd to think of him like that but that was what he was and she needed to get used to it; she doubted they would allow her to disappear.

“About eleven weeks now,” Daniella said a little embarrassed that she had come so close with her boyfriend in such a short about of time; she looked at her parents who stared at her for a moment before Amelia moved closer to her daughter.

“If you don’t mind me asking… how long have you been sexually active with him?” Amelia asked making Daniella stare at her, she hadn't expected her mother to ask such a question and it made her wonder why they would want to know.

Daniella blinked as she stared at the items that Amelia had brought back from the shops, she had to admit that she was grateful to be able to put on a navy cotton T-shirt and sky blue check print pyjama bottoms that she had been given.

However it was the white box that Amelia had given her that had Daniella puzzled, she licked her lips wondering why her mother had given her a pregnancy test; she didn't think it was possible for Gerard to get her pregnant.

“Why are you giving me this?” Daniella asked softly as she looked at Amelia, the vampiress looked at her daughter for a moment before she took a deep breath; she wanted her suspicions to be confirmed, she wasn’t sure how her daughter would cope if she was pregnant with a vampire’s child.

“I just want to be sure,” Amelia said flashing the brunette a smile as she ushered her into the bathroom, she knew that if Daniella was pregnant then she was going to need to be prepared; there was no way that the brunette would survive the birth and she would need to be turned as soon as possible.

Furrowing her brow, Daniella moved to take the test since she didn't see any harm in seeing what would happen, she doubted that Gerard had managed to get her pregnant after a short amount of time; they had only been sexually active for about two weeks now.

Staring at the test after she had taken it, Daniella blinked as it slowly began to become positive; she stared stunned as she rested a hand against her stomach as she wondered what the hell was going on, the test said that she was about four weeks gone and she knew that it wasn’t possible.

Amelia knocked on the door before she stepped into the bathroom, she sighed as she carefully moved towards her daughter who was staring numbly at the test; she didn't want to believe that she was pregnant.

“It’s positive… how is that possible?” Daniella whispered as Amelia comforted her, she knew that this was a shock; she remembered when she had found out she was first pregnant it had been a nasty shock for her as well.

“It’ll be okay,” Amelia said softly as she brushed some hair from the brunette’s face, she cuddled her close knowing that she wasn’t going to leave her daughter alone now; she needed her mother and she was going to be there.

Gerard sighed as he packed for his trip, he knew that it was stupid but he needed to go and get Daniella; he didn't know what it was but he had a horrible feeling that something had happened.

“What do you think will happen?” Lionel asked as he looked at his friend, he was insisting on coming with him since he wanted his own mate back as well; the two vampires were preparing for their trip to the North Pole and they hoped that their mates were okay.

“I have no idea… I’m not even sure what to expect from the creator,” Gerard admitted, he couldn't remember the last time any vampire had seen their creator and his mate; there had been a lot of stories sure but they didn't know much about him.

Lionel nodded his head, he knew that they were going to meet the man that had started this all, he wondered how the creator would react to the idea that Gerard was mated with his daughter; he doubted he would take it well.

“Are you afraid?” Lionel asked curiously as he looked at Gerard, who sighed as he looked at his friend; he knew that the argentine was concerned but he didn't want to think about what the future held for him right now.

“I’m not thinking about it… I’m just concentrating on Dani, she needs me,” Gerard said making Lionel nod his head as he backed off, he didn't want to stress the older vampire out any more than he needed to; he could already see that Gerard wasn’t in the best of moods.

Gerard closed his eyes as he focused on the bond that he had with Daniella, he smiled as he felt it more alive now; he was glad that she was okay and he couldn't wait to have her back in his arms.
