Marc pursed his lips as he watched the happy couple celebrating their marriage, he couldn’t believe that Gerard had something that didn’t belong to him.

Marc wondered how Daniella would feel if she knew the truth, he doubted her marriage to Gerard would survive if she were to discover the truth.

“Can’t you let this go?” Chase whispered as she looked at her boss, she didn’t know why Marc continued to do this to himself; it had been the same ever since they had bumped into Daniella hunting eight weeks ago.

Chase didn’t even know why Marc didn’t like Gerard, all she knew was that it was enough for him to want to destroy his mating to Daniella.

“No,” Marc said as he pushed himself to his feet and walked towards the happy couple, he was determined to leave a mark on their wedding that neither of them would ever forget.

Daniella kissed Gerard softly as she balanced their son on her hip, she couldn’t believe that they were married and she got to celebrate this day with him.

“I love you,” Daniella whispered as she smiled up at her husband, she had never felt like this before and she doubted that she would ever feel like this again.

Gerard kissed her softly as he felt himself relaxing and he couldn’t have been happier that Daniella was now his wife; it was unreal and he just hope that they didn’t have any problems.

Marc cleared his throat as he stopped in front of the couple, he was determined to lay a seed of doubt in Daniella’s mind and he was sure that she would see that Gerard wasn’t the one that she was meant to be with.

“Congratulations… it seems the best man won,” Marc said as the couple turned to look at him, he smirked at the warning look that Gerard offered him and he knew he was rubbing the other male vampire up the wrong way.

Daniella frowned as she looked at Marc, she didn’t like what he was saying and she didn’t know who had invited him to her wedding.

Gerard ran his fingers through his hair, he didn’t know why Marc couldn’t just let it go and let him be happy, what had happened was in the past.

Daniella looked at her husband concerned, she had just settled Henri down for bed and she was curious about what Marc had meant back at their wedding reception.

“Geri…” Daniella whispered moving into the room and walking over to her husband, she didn’t want any secrets between them and she had never kept anything from him.

Gerard closed his eyes for a moment, he didn’t have to look at her to know what she wanted; he was going to have to tell her before Marc did so.

“What’s going on?” Daniella asked as she sat down next to him, she took his hand and laced their fingers; she doubted it could be all that bad and it was probably something stupid.

Gerard smiled gently as he stared down at their joined hands, he would never regret what he had done; it had brought him the best thing in his life.

“I want you to let me explain… what happened was a long time ago,” Gerard said carefully, his blue eyes moving to look at his wife; she nodded her head acceptingly as she waited to hear what was going on.

Daniella always felt unease when it came to Marc and even in her past life, there was something just odd about him; she barely could remember why.

“Marc was your betrothed… my uncle arranged for you to marry him when you were Catherine,” Gerard said as he tried to stay calm, he hated this part and he despised his uncle for doing what he had.

Daniella blinked surprised, she wasn’t sure what to say about what she had been told; she didn’t know why anyone would think she could love anyone but Gerard.

“It was before you met me… I feel in love with you at first sight,” Gerard mused as he smiled at Daniella, she’d remember that and it saved him time on telling the tale; he had always loved her.

Daniella nodded as she watched Gerard, she really didn’t have to guess where this was going; Marc was a problem that clearly wasn’t going to go away any time soon.

“Once I had you… I wasn’t going to lose you, so I had Marc banished from Europe since he was human back then,” Gerard said only feeling a little guilty about what he had done, he hadn’t wanted to watch Daniella with another man and it had been so very easy.

Daniella nodded along, she squeezed his hand in comfort and thought about how happy she was; she doubted she’d feel like that if she had been forced to marry Marc.

“After you had been executed… Marc came back a vampire and wanted payment because I had cost him you, I refused,” Gerard said closing his eyes, he had been a mess back then and had tried to kill Marc who had been more interested in repayment than the death of the woman he claimed to love.

Daniella kissed Gerard’s cheek, she could sense how upset he was and she didn’t need to hear anymore; she understood why the two male vampires hated each other now.

Daniella felt angry that Marc was trying to cause trouble for them, he felt slighted and that didn’t give him the right to try and ruin things for them.

“I love you,” Daniella murmured brushing her fingers through Gerard’s hair, she didn’t know how many more times she would tell him those words and she didn’t want to waste time between them.

Gerard smiled as he kissed Daniella, he was happy that she now knew about Marc and he hoped it would make her be careful around his rival; Marc wasn’t going to let their marriage go.

“I love you too,” Gerard whispered as he held Daniella close, he was looking forward to helping her out of her wedding dress; it had been a long day and he just wanted to be with his wife.

Daniella kissed Gerard, they didn’t have much time before he was deployed and she didn’t want to think of what would happen while her husband was away.

“Promise me you’ll be careful,” Daniella pleaded as she pulled back from Gerard and looked at him, she was dreading him going away and she prayed that he could come back to her safely.

Gerard stared at his wife, he couldn’t promise her anything and it hurt; he had no idea if he would come back alive after a fight with a hunter but he would do his best.

“Gerard por favour,” Daniella said she didn’t want to be desperate but they had just married and had a little boy; she didn’t want to be a widow nor have Henri fatherless so soon.

Gerard carefully moved to cup her face, he kissed her as he wondered how he could leave something like this behind; he had everything to fight for.

“I promise Dani… one way or another, I will come back to you,” Gerard said pulling back, he smiled softly as he brushed his fingers through her hair and took a deep breath; he would do anything for his wife and son.

Daniella smiled as she looked up at her husband, she couldn’t shake the bad feeling that she had about the war her father had declared but there was nothing that could be done.

“Now Mrs Piqué… let’s get you out of that wedding dress,” Gerard said with a grin, he was going to take what he could get right now and when the time came he hoped that everything would be okay.
