Chapter Thirty-Eight: A New Life

Closing his blue eyes for a brief moment, Gerard smiled as he listened to Daniella’s heartbeat slow down to that of a vampire’s; he was relieved that the change was coming to an end, he didn’t know how much longer he could take the silence that filled the room.

Gerard looked down at his mate as questions filled his mind as he looked at diamond and white topaz silver engagement ring that lay on her finger; he was curious about what name she would take when she awoke.

As his mate, she would be expected to take his last name but she was also the creator’s daughter meaning that she had to bear her Father’s name as well; he knew that it would affect the surname of their child until they married at least.

Watching her for a few more minutes Gerard sighed relieved as he watched her eyes flicker beneath the lids.

“Daniella?” Gerard murmured softly knowing that she could hear him perfectly now; he moved closer to her side as he waited for a few more moments before her fingers twitched.

Gerard watched as she slowly opened her brown eyes, she blinked a couple of times as she allowed her eyes to adjust to the light before she focused completely on Gerard.

“How are you feeling?” the vampire asked as he carefully moved to cup her face and kissed her softly, he knew that this was strange for her and he hoped that she would be okay now that she had changed.

“Different but the same,” Daniella replied, she was a little surprised that she sounded completely the same but there was something off slightly about her voice.

“You’ll get used to it nena,” Gerard said as he ran his fingers through her hair, he was pleased that she was adjusting so well to the changes of becoming a vampire; he remembered how freaked out he had been when he had been turned.

“I want you,” Daniella said making Gerard chuckle as he kissed her softly, he was meant to be preparing her for her first hunt with Patricia before she could be introduced to their son; they wanted to make sure that she was fed so that she didn’t attack their son.

“I know nena… get dressed and we’ll sort something out,” Gerard said as he turned away from Daniella; however she easily stopped him making him frown at her, he looked at her confused about what she was doing. Daniella smiled up at him as she realised that she was just as strong as he was now.

“Amor, you are a lot stronger than I am right now,” Gerard warned he knew that she was still adjusting and didn't want to be too hard on her right now, however he knew that he had to be firm with her since she was only just turned.

Daniella stared at him for a moment before she stepped closer to him and gently nuzzled her head into his neck, Gerard held still wondering what she was doing; newborn vampire’s weren’t very affectionate with their mates until they were at least a few days old.

“I want you,” Daniella purred softly as she wrapped her arms around Gerard’s neck and kissed him passionately; Gerard closed his eyes as the kiss started to get a little more heated.

Gerard figured that this was because Daniella was already half vampire when they met that she was going to be a little different from the average newborn would have to the change; he hoped that she would be okay once she’d feed.

“I want you too nena… so much, but after you’ve been hunting,” Gerard said softly as he pulled away from Daniella, he knew that this would take some getting used to now that she was just like him.

The brunette pouted as she watched him walk away to get her some clothes that she could go hunting in, she knew that he wanted her to hunt but that wasn’t what she craved right now.

“Por favor,” Daniella mewled making Gerard stop and look at her, he tilted his head confused as she padded towards him; her brown eyes looking up at him hopefully making Gerard frown before she rubbed herself up against his body.

“Amor?” Gerard questioned softly as she started to lap at his neck softly, he stayed still wondering what had gotten into her, he had never seen a newborn vampire act like this and he could only put it down to her being half human before the change.

Daniella grinned as she rubbed herself up against her mate, she didn’t know what was going on but she couldn’t keep her hands off of Gerard; she purred softly making Gerard chuckle as he lay next to her.

The vampire hadn’t been able to deny her what she wanted, he knew that he should have resisted but once she had started to rub against him there was no way that he could deny her what she wanted.

“Gracias,” Daniella murmured as she rested her head on his shoulder, she wasn’t used to this feeling of not being tired; she knew that she didn’t need as much sleep anymore, she licked her lips as she closed her eyes content.

“It wasn’t a problem… how do you feel?” Gerard asked as he looked down at her, he smiled softly at how peaceful she was right now; he knew that this was the beginning of a new life for her. Daniella opened her brown eyes and watched him for a moment.

“Better,” the brunette said making Gerard smile as he looked into her eyes; he carefully wrapped his arms around her and held her close as they lay together.

“How is Henri?” Daniella asked as she cuddled closer to Gerard, she had never felt like this before and she knew that she could never replace the feelings that she had for Gerard with anything; she watched him curiously as he chuckled and pressed a kiss to her head.

“He’s fine… Carla and Cesc have him for a couple of days while you adapt,” Gerard said as he rested his head against hers, he closed his eyes as he thought about his son; Henri was three days old now and he reminded the footballer of himself so much.

The brunette pushed herself up slightly as she watched Gerard, she had so many questions that she didn’t know where she wanted to begin; she watched as Gerard looked at her.

“What will happen now?” Daniella asked making the vampire chuckle as he kissed her lips before he climbed out of bed, leaving the brunette alone for a moment as he pulled out some clothes for her.

Daniella watched him curiously as he sighed and handed her the outfit that he had chosen for her, she looked at him for a moment before she climbed out of bed and dressed in a blue cowl neck blouse and black skinny jeans paired with black faux suede ankle boots.

“Patricia will be taking you hunting since Carla is still waiting to have her baby,” Gerard said knowing that he couldn’t be with Daniella while she hunted, he wasn’t sure how he would react if they hunted together.

Gerard kissed her softly as he pulled her close, he knew that this would be her first hunt and he hoped that Patricia would be okay with her while they were out together.

“When will I see Henri? Daniella asked softly as she looked up at her mate, she tilted her head as she watched him; she wanted to see her son since she was aware of the days that had passed since she had last seen him and they had been too many.
