Trey
"Aye yo."
I looked away from the mirror at Bully walking through the door of my hotel suite.
I was in Chicago for work until tomorrow morning; then, I was headed back home to get ready for Grammy Weekend and my album release party.
I filmed the Steve Harvey Show this morning as a pre Valentine's Day special before doing a radio interview at the local r&b and hip hop station, WGCI.
Since the start of our security firm, my brother Bully only traveled with me on special occasions. His position was now more of an executive one so he could be home with his lady and children, which is why I was surprised to see him here.
"What's good?" I spoke back as we dapped and hugged, "everything all good?"
"Yeah, thought I'd come check on you. Make sure you were good."
He spoke to Kevin, Mu, and Jr before coming back over to where I stood sipping cognac from a paper cup.
I had an appearance at a nightclub downtown and I did not feel like that shit, at all.
After a while, he made his way back over.
"I'm not popping pills." I mumbled low enough where only he could hear, "that's why you here?"
"Nah," he replied leaning against the chaise, "I'm here cause I wanna make sure you're good."
I sighed and shook my head.
"Ten minutes, Trey." Kevin said from the near the door.
"Bet," I replied grabbing my Louis shades from the accent table and putting them on, "you riding?"
"I ain't come all the way to stay in the room, nigga. Hell yeah, I'm riding." He replied.
"Walk out here with me real quick."
He followed me out on the terrace where we could speak freely.
I pulled a spliff out the front pocket of my Versace shirt and the torch lighter from the left pocket of my pants.
"How's Kelly, Titan, and lil man?" I asked once it was lit.
The smile on his face was priceless.
"They good." He responded, "they good. Noah's getting so big. Every day doing some new basic ass shit that impresses the fuck outta me."
Thinking about Bully's normal and how soft he became with Kelly and his baby boy was a trip for niggas like me that knew him since way back.
It was crazy that my niggas and I were the new adults.
"I already know," I took a couple hits and passed it to him, "it goes by fast to. Soak up every single second you can of now. Next thing you know that lil nigga gon be walking and talking and shit..."
