"They just pulled up." Kelly announced looking out of the window near the front of the house.
My legs were shaking underneath me as I sat on the arm of the chair.
It was seven hours later and Bully and Trey were just arriving home from being arrested after bail being set.
Internally, I was battling so many emotions. Since Kelly woke me up this morning, I was mortified and rattled.
April stood from the couch and waited on the door to open. When it did, Kevin, Bugzi, Mu Daddy, and Jr walked in first followed by Bully and then Trey.
Kelly sighed and immediately flew into Bully to embrace.
"Are you okay?" She asked him softly.
He nodded and remained quiet. She grabbed Trey's hand consolingly.
"I'm good." He replied patting her back dismissively.
While she looked relieved by his response, my face was anything but. Gradually, he looked up at me with my arms crossed and then at his mother nearby whose face was more serious than mine.
"I know you got a lot to handle," Bully said under his breath to him, "we outta here. I'ma fly back to the A unless..."
Trey held up his hands.
"I've inconvenienced you enough. Go head. Again, my bad..."
"Stop it," Bully replied as he sucked his teeth and they dapped and hugged, "always rocking. You know that."
Once him and Kelly left, slowly, every one else said their goodbyes and left too leaving Trey, April, and I standing in his living room.
"I'ma say this and i'ma go," she said sternly taking her time, "I try as hard as I can to let you two be, being as how you're grown and navigating life, love and children all at the same damn time while being extremely important people. I'm sure it's difficult, stressful even..."
She walked closer as her eyes became smaller.
"But you're crashing and burning and not even realizing it." She added as her voice trembled.
"Mumma..." Trey started.
"Zip it," she interrupted assertively, "I'm not finished."
He sighed and shook his head as I stood here trying to figure out why I was getting blasted too.
"All of this fighting and bickering between you two and your past lovers and shit; all this anger and tension. What is this shit?!" She yelled in frustration as her eyes clouded.
Neither of us said anything.
"If all you want is each other and you have that now, why this drama? You're fighting in clubs, at record labels, family dinners and engagements; boy, you won the highest esteemed award in music last night and you do this when you barely got off for that Detroit shit you pulled? Again, what the fuck are you two so angry about?!"
