Trey
"As always, be good while I'm gone?" I said softly to Trini, Rose, and TJ as I kneeled to them at eye level.
They all nodded in sync.
"Mommy still ain't feeling her best, so I'm leaving y'all with the very important task of looking after her while I'm away. Can y'all handle that?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes Daddy." They replied in unison hanging on to my every word.
I smiled and stood to my feet.
"If y'all are good, I'll do something pretty special when I get back, promise."
Trinity clapped giddily. Her eyes squinted as she smiled reminding me so much of her mother.
I picked them up one at a time and gave them each a kiss to their cheek and a tight hug. I smoothed my suit jacket and grabbed Taylor from Mumma's lap.
"I love you ladybug." I whispered against her lips before pecking them a few times.
She rambled and pulled my face as she smiled. That melted my heart. I couldn't believe she was so big already.
I handed her to Solange and kissed her cheek.
"You here til I'm back?" I confirmed.
She nodded matter of factly.
"Not leaving her side until you return." She let me know.
"Make sure she's okay." I said softer.
The truth was my lawyer had a plan to maybe get my charges dismissed altogether but ultimately it was up to the judge. If they were in a foul mood or one of those that liked to make an example out of celebs, I was screwed. I was praying everything went smoothly.
"I got you. Do what you need to and come back." She whispered kissing my cheek.
I nodded and turned to Tae. She sat on the couch scrolling on her phone as her leg shook, something she did when anxious. I went over and pulled her up in front of me.
"Be careful." She said softly looking at her feet.
I took my finger and lifted her chin so she could look me in the eye.
"I love you."
Her eyes watered as I shook my head defensively. She couldn't do this now. I ain't need the pressure of knowing she was at home a mess.
"We'll be back." I said to everyone in the room pulling Tae in the foyer.
"Doll, come on. I know you're worried but pray for the best. Our kids need you to be strong and continue with life as they know it regardless of what happens. Everything will be fine if we just have faith. Trust me."
She breathed in and out and shook her hands nervously.
"You're right. I don't wanna scare them by being all emotional and shit. I can get it together."
