Chapter 33: Telling the Team!

     Emily and Spencer went to the crime scene. Spencer explained to Emily what they know so far. "You stay here and examine, I'll go to the gas station and see if anyone saw anything." Emily suggested. "Good idea." Spencer agreed. Emily walked off until she made it to the gas station, which didn't take long. She walked in and only saw a few people. She walked up the the counter. "Have you been working here all day?" Emily asked. "I have." The women replied. "Did you see a bus coming by here?" Emily asked. "I did. A bunch of kids." The women replied. Emily looked up and saw a big portrait of the cashier holding a little girl, she just have been five. She looked back at the women in front of her. "Was there anything or anyone suspicious?" Emily asked. "Now that you mention it, there was a man walking near the bus in a black hoodie. He took off the hood and he was an average white make with curly red hair." The women replied. "What's your name?" Emily asked. "Mia Thompson." Mia replied and Emily nodded. "Is that your daughter in that portrait?" Emily asked and Mia frowned as she got a sad look and tears appearing in her eyes. "She was. She died a year ago from today." Mia replied and Emily sighed. "I'm so sorry. My condolences." Emiky told her and Mia nodded as she put on a fake smile. "Thanks." Mia commented. "If there's anything else you remember, then here's my number. Emily told her and Mia nodded as she took the piece of paper.
      Spencer was examining the tracks. He was trying to find out which way they went. It's not just the kids that are missing, but the whole bus. Which means the Unsub must have take over the whole bus and driven off. Spencer walked a little further and saw some traces of blood. He followed it until he walked a little deeper in the woods. The blood trail ended, but he still didn't see anything. He felt something drop on his cheek, like a rain drop. He touched it and gasped when he discovered that it was blood. He looked up and saw a dead body hanging from a tree, but it wasn't one of the kids. It was the bus driver.
       Emily walked back over to the area and saw Spencer walk in from the woods and the ambulances bringing a dead body. "What happened?" Emily asked. "The Unsub killed the bus driver." Spencer replied and Emily sighed. "And stashed him in the woods?" Emily asked. "That's right." Spencer replied. "The Unsub couldn't have stashed the driver and watched everyone in the bus." Emily commented. "Exactly. That's why I believe there's more then one Unsub." Spencer told her.
      The whole team was at the station. Penelope requested a video chat and Aaron accepted. "I found the guy, Emily. His name is Randy Thompson." Penelope informed them and Emily looked at her confused. "Is he married to a Mia Thompson?" Emily asked. "He was, they're divorced." Penelope replied and Emily sighed. "How did you know that?" Aaron asked. "Mia was the witness at the gas station." Emily replied. "She didn't tell you he was her ex husband?" David asked and Emily shook her head. "No." Emily replied. "That's suspicious." David commented. "That's for sure." Aaron agreed. "How did her daughter die?" Emily asked. "How do you know she had a daughter?" Aaron asked. "There was a portrait at the gas station." Emily replied. "She died.... In a bus crash. Only death out of the twenty kids." Penelope told them. "I think we found our Unsub." Derek commented. "Then who's working with her?" Spencer asked. "Her ex husband?" JJ asked. "Not possible. He moved to Africa right after the divorce was finalized." Penelope replied. "Who is Mia close to?" Aaron asked and Penelope started typing. "Her sister. She had her as the emergency contact when concerned with her late daughter and she lives with her. Her name is Rose." Penelope replied. "Send us the address." Aaron team her as the team left.
      The team were back at the station. Half of them went to the gas station and grabbed Mia while the other half went to the house and grabbed Rose. Aaron and David walked into Mia's interrogation room. "I'm only going to ask you once. Where is the bus?" Aaron asked and Mia smirked. "Do you just want the bus or are the kids included?" Mia asked and Aaron slammed his hands on the table. "I'm not playing." Aaron replied. David pulled Aaron back and stepped forward. "If you help us, we might be able to lower your sentence." David told her and she laughed as she laid back. "Now what's the fun in that?" Aaron asked. "This isn't fun." Aaron replied and walked out with David. Emily and JJ walked up to them. "This is just a game to her!" Aaron exclaimed. Emily walked up to him and held his hand as he sighed. "Game." JJ muttered. "What's that?" David asked. "A game. Kids like games." JJ replied as she pulled out her phone. "What's she talking about?" Emily asked and David shrugged. "Beats me." David replied. JJ dialled Penelope's number and put her on speaker phone. "Here and ready to help." Penelope greeted. "What's the known place that Mia's daughter liked to play at?" JJ asked. "An arcade, but they closed that one and built a new one a few towns over." Penelope replied. "Thanks, Penelope." JJ commented and hung up as Spencer and Derek walked out of the other interrogation room and over to them. "We got nothing from her." Derek told them. "We have something." JJ informed them.
     They all made it to the arcade and saw that it was locked. Derek managed to break the doors down and they all ran in. The few teachers and several kids were all there. The FBI led them out and took them to the school where they were all reunited with their parents. The team watched with smiles on their faces. They all packed up and left to go back home.
      They were all at the BAU, getting ready to leave. Aaron walked up to Emily. "Hey, I'm almost ready to leave." Emily told him. 'Take your time." Aaron told her. "I'm glad it was a happy ending." Emily commented with a smile and Aaron smiled too. "Me too.... You want to tell the team?" Aaron asked and Emily stood up. "There's nothing to tell them." Emily replied with a smirk and Aaron laughed. "Very funny." Aaron agreed. "Okay, let's tell them." Emily agreed and Aaron took her hand. "Guys! We have an announcement!" Aaron called and the team gathered around. "Emily took the ring out of her pocket and placed it on her finger as she held it out to show everyone. "We're engaged." Emily told them. They all congratulated the couple and decided to go out for drinks and celebrate the news.
