Chapter 39: Dark Past Part 3!

      Emily didn't know what to say or what to do. "What are you doing here?" Emily asked. "Hotchner called, said something was wrong with you." Elizabeth replied. Emily couldn't believe him. She has never been so angry with him before. Aaron walked down the stairs and they both turned to face him. "Hi." Aaron greeted. Emily took a look at her mom and then walked up to her fiance. "How could you?" Emily asked. "It was out of anger. I tried to call her to stop her from coming." Aaron replied. "You shouldn't have called her in the first place." Emily told him and he sighed. "I know." Aaron agreed. She walked back to her mom and past her to leave.
      Elizabeth walked in and looked at Aaron. "What's going on, Agent Hotchner?" Elizabeth asked. "You need to talk to Emily about it." Aaron replied. "She seems like she's mad at me, for a reason I do not know." Elizabeth told him. "You'll understand soon, or maybe not." Aaron told. By what Emily has told him, Elizabeth will get more mad at Emily, which is wrong. "What's that suppose to mean?" Elizabeth asked. "You'll find out soon enough." Aaron replied and he walked out of the house too.
    Emily parked her car in the middle of nowhere. She sighed as she sat there and was thinking. She didn't know what to do, or what to think. She was looked at her hand and at the engagement ring on her finger. She took it off and examined it. She sighed as she put it back on and looked out the car window. She was lost. She can't believe Aaron will do this to her. She's starting to think that this whole thing, dating her boss, was a mistake. Maybe they just weren't meant to be. It broke her heart, but the truth hurts. She let herself cry, which she doesn't usually do. But she was okay with it, because she was by herself. She got a call on her phone from an unknown number. Sje wiped her tears and took a breathe before answering. "Agent Prentiss." Emily greeted. "Emily, is that you?" Thr voice asked. Her heart dropped. She couldn't believe she was hearing that voice again. It's been a long time. "Declan?" Emily asked.
       Aaron was outside on the porch. He was on the phone with JJ. "So, she's not there?" Aaron asked. "No, I haven't seen her." JJ replied and Aaron sighed. "Okay, thanks." Aaron commented. "What happened? Did you guys fight again?" JJ asked. "Yeah." Aaron replied. "You guys haven't fought since you got engaged." JJ commented and Aaron sighed. "I know." Aaron agreed. "Then what happened?" JJ asked. "It was my fault, I was an idiot." Aaron replied. "What did you do?" JJ asked. "I can't tell you. It's Emily's secret, not mine." Aaron replied. "I'll let you know if she comes by and I'll contact the rest of the team." JJ told him. "Thank you, JJ." Aaron commented. He hung up the phone just as Elizabeth walked out. "You guys are engaged?" Elizabeth asked. "We are." Aaron replied. "I saw the ring on her finger." Elizabeth replied and Aaron looked over at her. "You didn't know before hand?" Aaron asked and Elizabeth shook her head. "No. I knew she had issues with me, but I always thought she would at least tell me if she was getting married." Elizabeth replied. "After all the years I've known her, I finally understand." Aaron commented and he walked inside.
     JJ called everyone except Penelope. She dialled her number and Penelope didn't answer as JJ sighed. Then she got a call and saw that it was Penelope and she answered. "Hey." JJ greeted. "Hi, sorry about that. I just got out of the shower." Penelope apologized. "No worries." JJ reassured. "What's up?" Penelope asked. "Have you talked or seen Emily?" JJ asked. "No." Penelope replied and JJ sighed. "Oh." JJ commented. "Why?" Penelope asked. "Hotch was asking. He didn't tell me what happened, but I got the impression it wasn't good." JJ replied. "It might have something to do with the photo." Penelope commented. "What photo?" JJ asked and Penelope sighed. "Hotch gave me a picture of Emily when she was 13 and told me to identify the man behind her. Emily went ballistic when she found out." Penelope replied. "Rossi mentioned a photo, but he didn't get into it." JJ commented. "I didn't know Rossi knew." Penelope told her. "Do you want to meet up and get the rest of the team?" JJ asked. "To figure out the mystery?" Penelope asked. "Yes." JJ replied. "I'll page the team now." Penelope agreed and she hung up as JJ left.
     Elizabeth walked into the house and looked at Aaron. "Why do you keep saying things like that?" Elizabeth asked and Aaron sighed. "Wait until Emily gets home." Aaron replied. "I'm not waiting. I need to know now." Elizabeth told him. "Emily told me." Aaron told her. "Told you what?" Elizabeth asked. "She's told me all the reasons why she doesn't get along with you, but she just told me the biggest reason." Aaron replied. "Which is?" Elizabeth asked. "Which is what happened to her when she was 13 and you blew it off like it was nothing. Like she was nothing." Aaron replied. "What happened when she was 13?" Elizabeth asked. "You're kidding, right?" Aaron asked and Elizabeth shook her head. "No, I have no idea what you're talking about." Elizabeth replied. "Either you're lying to me, or you're really that stupid." Aaron told her and walked out of the house.
     The rest of the team met up at the BAU, and they were all in the round table room. "What's going on?" Derek asked. "Something's up with Emily, and we have no clue what. Hotch knows but hasn't said anything." JJ replied. "Is this about the photo?" David asked. "Yes." Penelope replied. "What photo?" Spencer asked and the girls sighed as they started explaining everything they know.
      "Declan?" Emily asked. "Yes, it's me." Declan replied and Emily smiled. "She was so happy to hear from him. She missed him and has worried about him since the whole Doyle thing. "How have you been?" Emily asked. "Not good. I'm in the Foster System." Declan replied and Emily frowned. "Has it not been good?" Emily asked and Declan sighed. "No, Emily. They keep beating me and I'm with a foster family right now, and they're worst." Declan replied. "That's terrible." Emily commented. She wanted to help him. She needed to help him. "I never wanted a new family, I wanted you." Declan told her. "What?" Emily asked. "You were always there for me. You helped me when you were with my dad, after my guardian was killed. You saved me, I'm alive because of you. I want you to be my guardian." Declan replied. "I don't know what to say." Emily told him. "He's coming!" Declan exclaimed. "What? Declan?" Emily asked. "I have to go." Declan replied and he hung up. Emily started her car and drove.
