Chapter 40: Declan Doyle!

      Emily called Penelope as she drove. "Emily? What's wrong?" Penelope asked. "I need you to meet me at the BAU." Emily replied. "I'm already there." Penelope told her. "You are? Why?" Emily asked. "We knew something was up with you. We're all here, except for Hotch." Penelope replied. "I need your help once I get there." Emily told her. "With what?" Penelope asked. "I'll explain once I get there." Emily replied. "Alright. Is everything okay?" Penelope asked. "No, it's not." Emily replied and she hung up.  She thought about Doyle the entire drive there. She hoped he was okay and that she won't be too late.
      David called Aaron. "What's up?" Aaron asked. "We're all at the BAU." David replied. "Is Emily there?" Aaron asked. "No." David replied and Aaron sighed. "What's going on? Is there a case?" Aaron asked. "No. We're all because of you and Emily." David replied. "What do you mean?" Aaron asked. "Everyone knows about the photo and we're trying to figure it out." David replied. "You really shouldn't, I made the mistake of investigating." Aaron told him. "I don't think anyone here will stop at this point." David told him and Aaron sighed. "I'll be over there soon." Aaron told him. "One more thing, Hotch. Garcia just got off the phone with Prentiss, and she sounded urgent." David told him. "Okay." Aaron commented and he hung up. "Where are you going?" Elizabeth asked as she walked up to him. "The BAU." Aaron replied. "I'll go with you." Elizabeth told him. "No, I don't think Emily wants to see you." Aaron told her and left as Elizabeth sighed.
       Emily walked into the round table room. "What about the man?" Derek asked as soon as she walked in. "Excuse me?" Emily asked. "The man in the picture." Derek replied. "How do you know about that?" Emily asked. "Garcia told us." Derek replied and Penelope sighed as Emily looked at her. "I'm sorry, we were all just really worried." Penelope apologized. Emily sighed and shook her head. "That's not important. The important thing is that Declan is in trouble." Emily told them. "Declan? Ian Doyle's son?" David asked and Emily nodded. "Yeah, the one and the same." Emily replied. "What does this have to do with him?" Derek asked. "I think he is being beaten by his new foster family and I need Garcia to tell me where he is." Emily replied. Penelope was already in front of a laptop on the table and started typing. "Found him." Penelope told her and she walked over and looked over her shoulder at the screen. "I have to go." Emily told them. "I'll go with you. You guys stay here." David told her and they ran out of the BAU.
     Emily and David were in the car as Emily drove. "Are you okay?" David asked. "I risked my life for him twice, and now he's in danger again." Emily replied. "It's not your fault." David told her. "What makes you think I blame myself?" Emily asked as she looked over at him. "It's your move." David replied. Emily sighed and shook her head as she turned back to the road ahead of her. "I'm the reason this is happening to him." Emily commented. "No, you're not." David told her. "His guardian is dead because of my past with his dad, and his dad is dead because of his past with me." Emily commented. "Doyle did a lot of wrong and was a terrible person. Declan's mom went after Declan because she was bad too, and Doyle got himself killed." David explained. "I hate Doyle. I hate my past with him." Emily told him. "But?" David asked. "He did love his son, and I almost died to protect him and keep him safe, and I'm failing." Emily replied. "You only fail if we get there and he's dead." David told her and she sighed.
      Emily parked the car and the heard noises. They got their guns out and walked inside. "FBI!" David yelled. They saw a man strangling Declan. The man ran and David followed him. Emily put her gun away and ran to Declan's side. "Hey, hey. Are you okay?" Emily asked. Declan was in tears. "No." Declan replied. Emily sighed as she hugged him and held back her own tears. David came back and shook his head as Emily sighed. Emily took Declan to the car and turned to David. "We have to find him." Emily told him and he nodded. "I know, and we will." David agreed. They both got into the gun and started the car as they drove away.
     Emily stopped the car at the BAU and brought Declan. The three of them walked in and Emily saw Aaron. "What happened?" Derek asked. "We saved Declan but lost our man." David replied. "Where is he?" JJ asked. "Downstairs at my desk." Emily replied. "Garcia, we need to find this." David told her and she nodded. "On it." Penelope agreed. "I'll help you." David told her as he walked over and sat next to her. "Could we talk?" Aaron asked. "Sure." Emily replied and they walked out of the room. Aarom looked over the railing and at the boy. "You really care about him, don't you?" Aaron asked. "I've known him since he was little and I was willing to die for him." Aaron replied. "What I did was wrong. I guess I just don't understand how someone can be so held back, but I'm starting to understand more." Aaron told her. "You need to respect my decisions." Emily told him and he nodded. "I know." Aaron agreed. "I'm lost, Aaron. I don't know who I am, I don't think I ever did. Bad things keep happening to me and I keep losing or hurting those I love or care about. Maybe it's because I'm a bad person. Emily told explained. "Em, you are the best person I know. You risked your life for a kid you barely knew. You have saved countless of innocent people and locked away several people who weren't good people. You made mistakes along the way, but we all have. You will do anything to save anyone that comes along your path. You're amazing, Emily." Aaron explained and Emily smiled. "I love you." Emily told him. "I love you too." Aaron agreed. "And that's why I need to find out who I am before I can give you what you deserve." Emily explained and the she put the ring in his hand as tears appeared in his eyes. "Emily." Elizabeth commented and Emily turned around to see her. "What are you doing here?" Emily asked. "I came here from a buisness trip for you, I had to bring my partner and I am determined to find out why." Elizabeth replied. "Your partner?" Emily asked and Elizabeth sighed. "Yeah." Elizabeth replied. Then a guy walked up behind her and Emily gasped as she stepped back. "You." Emily commented. "Emily, you remember Mick." Elizabeth commented. "You're the man from the photo." Aaron realized in shock. He looked down at Emily as she couldn't stop staring at him.
