Chapter 34: Engagement Party!

      JJ and Penelope were decorating JJ's backyard when Derek and Spencer walked back. "This looks nice." Spencer commented. "Thanks." Penelope commented. "I didn't know you guys were back." JJ told them. "We gave the ingredients for the food to Rossi." Derek informed her. "What is he cooking?" JJ asked and Derek shrugged. "He won't tell anyone." Derek replied and they laughed. "Well, I'm sure whatever it is that it'll be delicious." JJ commented. "As long as Rosdi does it and Morgsn doesn't help." Spencer told them and they laughed. "Very funny." Derek commented. "Where's the banner?" Penelope asked. "I saw it inside." Spencer replied. "I'll get it." Penelope offered as she walked inside. "Do you want me to hang it up?" Derek asked. "Yeah, that'll be great. Thanks." JJ replied. Penelope walked back outside and Derek took it from her. He hung it over the back door. "I'm going to check on Rossi." JJ told them.
      JJ walked back into the house and to the kitchen. "How's the food coming?" JJ asked. "Perfecto. I am cooking it after all." David replied with a smile and JJ laughed. "You are a good cook." JJ agreed. "The best." David corrected her and she laughed again. "What are you making?" JJ asked. "It's a surprise." David replied. "To Prentiss and Hotch, not the rest of us." JJ told him. "I'm not telling you. Now, out of my kitchen." David told her. "This is my kitchen." JJ informed. "Tonight I am the cheif, and a chief needs their own kitchen." David told her and she sighed. "Fine." JJ agreed and walked out as Will walked down the stairs. "Michael's asleep." Will informed her good. "I think we just lost our kitchen." JJ commented with a laugh. "Maybe we should just make him our person cheif." Will suggested and JJ laughed. "Maybe." JJ agreed. "I have to go to work, but I should be back sometime during the party." Will told her and she nodded. "Okay, be careful." JJ warned him. "I will." Will agreed. He kissed her cheek and then walked out of the house. "I heard that! I am not your person cheif!" David called and JJ laughed.
       JJ got Henry a drink as Penelope walked inside. "Outsides looking great." Penelope commented. "That's good." JJ told her. "I was thinking we could get some Christmas lights to light up the backyard." Penelope suggested and JJ thought about it. She thought that eiuod be cool. "Okay, we can tell the boys to get it." JJ agreed. "I'll tell them." Penelope told her as she walked back in the backyard. "Are you ready for tonight?" JJ asked her son. "Yeah, it'll be fun." Henry replied. "Jack will be there." JJ told him and he smiled. "Yay! He's my best friend." Henry told her and JJ laughed. "I thought so." JJ told him. "I can't wait for tonight." Henry commented. "You should probably go find what you what you want to wear." JJ told him and he stood up. "Okay." Henry agreed and he ran up the stairs and to his room.
     Penelope and Derek were putting the lights in the yard as Spencer started setting the table. JJ knocked on her son's door. "Come in!" Henry called and JJ walked in. "Are you ready?" JJ asked. "Yes." Henry replied and JJ smiled. "You look nice." JJ commented with a smile. "Thanks, mom. You look beautiful." Henry commented. JJ was wearing a blue dress that went to her knees. "Thank you." JJ commented. "Penelope walked up to them. "Have you talked to them yet?" Penelope asked. "Yes. I called Emily and told her to meet me here with Hotch and Jack and for the three of them to dress nice." JJ replied and Penelope nodded. "Okay. The rest of us will hide in the back." Penelope told her and she nodded. "Good idea.  JJ agreed.
      Everyone was in the back, Henry wanted to stay in the front with his mom. There was a knock on the door and Henry ran up to answer it. JJ followed her son and greeted her coworkers and her friends. "Thsnks for coming." JJ commented as she let them in. "No problem. But we did you insist for us to come over?" Aaron asked. "I wanted to show you something." JJ replied. They walked to the back with Henry and Jack following and talking. "Congratulations!" Everyone called once they entered the backyard. Emily and Aaron were shocked as streamers were thrown everywhere. "What is this?" Emily asked. "This is an engagement party for you guys." JJ replied and the couple smiled at their friends.
      They were all talking and having a good time. David walked up to JJ and Aaron. "Dinner will be ready soon." David told them. "Then will I get my kitchen back?" JJ asked with a smirk and David laughed. "Yes, JJ. You will." David replied. "I'm sure the food will be great." Aaron told him. "Of course it will be." David agreed and the three of them laughed. David walked over to Emily and JJ and Aaron started talking again as they watched their sons having fun together. "I'm glad are sons are such great friends." JJ commented. "Me too." Aaron agreed. JJ looked up at Aaron. "Are you and Emily planning on having any kids?" JJ asked and Aaron looked over at her. "I don't know, we have mu t really talked about it." Aaron replied. "Do you want to?" JJ asked. "I would like to, but I don't know about her." Aaron replied. "I think she would want to. Maybe not right away, but eventually. I think she'll make a great mom." JJ commented and Aaron smiled as he looked over at his fiance. "I know she will." Aaron agreed.
    They were all about to eat dinner when Will walked in. "I'm home!" Will called and JJ smiled as she walked up to him and took his hand. "Just in time." JJ commented as they sat at the table. David had made Fried Zucchini and Fettuccini. He pit some parmesan on the table and everyone started eating the meal. "This really is good." Aaron commented. "The best." Derek agreed and David smiled. "Cooking is my thing." David commented and they all laughed.
   After dinner, they were all in the back again. JJ put on some music and everyone started dancing. A slow song came on and everyone found a partner to start dancing. Aaron walked up to Emily. "May I have this dance?" Aaron asked as he held out his hand and Emily smiled. "You may." Emily replied as she took his hand. They walked a little further and started dancing together. Aaron spun Emily and held her close as he dipped her. He brought her back up and they both laughed as they kept dancing. "I love you." Emily told him. "I love you too." Aaron told her and they kissed.
