"Mom?" Emily asked. "Hello, Emily." Elizabeth greeted. "What are you doing here?" Emily asked as her mom walked in and Emily closed the door behind her. "To visit you, of course." Elizabeth replied. "How did you know you would find me here?" Emily asked. "I went to your apartment, but couldn't find you. I did some digging and found you here." Elizabeth replied as she looked around. "I see." Emily mumbled. "But why are you living with your boss?" Elizabeth asked as she turned to face her daughter. "I think you know." Emily replied. "You're right, but what I don't know is why?" Elizabeth asked. "It just happened, mom." Emily replied. "Nothing just happens, I thought I taught you that." Elizabeth told her. "You taught me a lot of things, and I try not to listen to most of them." Emily told her. "What does that mean?" Elizabeth asked. "It means that you told me to push people away from me. To not trust people. To keep everyone at arms length. That relationships never last. You're suppose to tell me the opposite." Emily explained. "Then that would have been a lie." Elizabeth told her. "Aaron and I almost broke up because I couldn't say that I loved him, because I never heard it, because you never said it to me." Emily explained. "You call him Aaron now?" Elizabeth asked. "That's what you get out of that? Yes, mother. I call him Aaron, because he is my boyfriend." Emily replied. "You shouldn't date your boss." Elizabeth told her. "The board said it was okay, and I don't need advice from you." Emily told her. "I knew something was up last time I was in town." Elizabeth commented and Emily sighed. "Em, is everything okay?" Aaron asked. The girls turned and saw him walk down the stairs and Emily gave a small smile to him as Elizabeth sighed.
JJ parked her car at the park and got both of her son's out. She saw Jack and waved at him as Henry ran to play with him. She pushed the stroller and walked over to Emily, sitting next to her on the bench. "Hey, what's wrong?" JJ asked and Emily sighed. "My mom decided to stop by." Emily replied. "Oh, wow." JJ commented and Emily nodded. "I know." Emily agreed. "What happened?" JJ asked. "She basically told me that Aaron and I should not be together and she was disappointed in me." Emily replied. "She said that? You should never tell a child that you're disappointed in them." JJ told her and Emily just shrugged. "Whatever." Emily mumbled. "Why aren't you upset about this? Are you hiding your feelings again?" JJ asked and Emily sighed. "No, I just don't care." Emily replied. "Why not?" JJ asked. "Because I'm use to it. Because I have spent most of my life trying to make her proud of me, until I realized it was impossible." Emily replied. "Em." JJ commented. "I joined the BAU for two reasons. Because I thought this was a good place for my talents, and because I wanted her to be proud of me. Not long after I joined is when I finally gave up." Emily added and JJ hugged her friend. "I am so sorry." JJ apologized. "It's fine, JJ." Emily reassured and they pulled apart. "What are you going to do about your mom?" JJ asked. "I don't know yet." Emily replied.
JJ walked into her house with both of her son's. Will walked down the stairs with a smile. "Hey." Will greeted. "You're back!" JJ exclaimed. "Yeah, I saw your note about the park." Will told her. There was a knock on the door and JJ smiled at her mom. "Hi, mom." JJ greeted as she let her in and closed the door behind her. "Hi, darling." Sandy greeted. "I'll get the boys." Will told her as he walked up the stairs. "Are you going somewhere?" Sandy asked JJ. "I just got back from the park with the boys." JJ replied and Sandy nodded. "Was it fun?" Sandy asked and JJ nodded. "Yeah." JJ replied. Will walked down holding Michael and a bag as Henry walked behind him, also holding a bag. "There are my little grandbabies." Sandy commented as she took Michael from Will's arms and his bag as well. "Are you ready to have some fun with grandma?" JJ asked and Henry nodded. "I am." Henry replied and they all smiled. "Have fun." JJ told her mom and Sandy nodded. "We will." Sandy agreed. She took Henry's hand and left.
Emily walked into her house with Jack. Aaron walked in from the kitchen with a smile. "How was the park?" Aaron asked. "Fun." Jack replied as he ran up the stairs, prompting Emily and Aaron to laugh. "Where is he rushing to?" Aaron asked. "Eager to play video games." Emily replied with a smirk. She walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the lips as she put his arms around him. He put his arm around her as well and she layed her head on his chest. "Are you okay?" Aaron asked. "Fine." Emily replied with a sigh. "There's something you should know." Aaron told her and she lifted her head to lock eyes with him. "What is it?" Emily asked. "Me." Elizabeth replied as she walked in from the kitchen. Emily pulled away from Aaron. "What are you doing here?" Emily asked. "I wanted to see my daughter." Elizabeth replied. "That's not why you're here, though." Emily commented. "Could we talk alone?" Elizabeth asked. "No." Emily replied. "Excuse me?" Elizabeth asked. "You should go. Now." Emily replied. "Em, maybe you should hear her out." Aaron suggested and Emily sighed. "I don't have to hear this." Emily told them and walked out as Aaron and Elizabeth sighed.
Aaron walked up to Emily, who was at a bench at the park. "How did you find me?" Emily asked. "I know you." Aaron replied as he sat next to her. "Where's Jack?" Emily asked. "With Jessica." Aaron replied. "And my mom?" Emily asked and Aaron shrugged. "She left." Aaron replied and Emily nodded. "Good." Emily commented. "Are you okay?" Aaron asked and Emily shook her head. "Not exactly." Emily replied. "What's wrong?" Aaron asked. "You chose my mom's side." Emily replied. "I did not. I hate that you guys always fight, I just want you guys to make up." Aaron told her and she sighed. "That's not going to happen. There's just too much bad blood between us. Crap she did in our past, in my past." Emily told him. He put his arm around her and kissed her head. "I love you, Em. I won't make you talk to her if you really don't want to. But I do think you should at least try." Aaron told her and she nodded. "I love you too." Emily told him.
There was a knock on the door and Emily opened it to reveal her mom. "You called?" Elizabeth asked. "Yeah, come in." Emily replied. Elizabeth walked in and Emily closed the door for her. "Hotch has changed you. He's able to get you to talk to me, get you to smile." Elizabeth commented. "That's not important." Emily told her mom. "Emily." Elizabeth warned. "I almost lost him, mom. I couldn't tell him that I loved him and that was because I have never heard it myself." Emily told her. "I'm sorry to hear that." Elizabeth apologized and Emily scuffed. "No you're not." Emily told her and Elizabeth sighed. "Why did you call me?" Elizabeth asked. "To tell you that I love Aaron. I fought for my relationship with him, and won. Not you or anyone else can change that." Emily replied. "Fine." Elizabeth agreed. "Fine?" Emily asked. "Fine." Elizabeth replied. She walked to the door and opened it. "We aren't ever going to be on good terms, are we?" Emily asked. "Funny you're the one asking, when you're the one holding all the grudges." Elizabeth replied and Emily sighed. "You don't make it easy to forgive." Emily told her. Elizabeth nodded and left.
