Alrich and Ursa wren where with Ezra's mother at the pacific war museum to study about the war they had seen the exhibits that showed the islands that where fought over the men that had died filed with tanks and the fighters and bombers that were used in the War Alrich took an interest as he saw the exhibits seeing the weapons and equipment that were used in the war.
Ursa saw the antiaircraft guns that where used and machine guns as well the two leaders where looking through the museum and entered a sector where they saw a man who appeared in his late eighties sitting on a bench that was in the middle of the room
the old man was looking at an exhibit he was just staring at it like as if he was in the past Ursa Ezra's mother and Alrich saw that there was space next to the man and walked over towards him
Ezra's mother immediately knew who it was " Mr Anderson?" She asked him the man turned around and smiled " Sarah what's a surprise I didn't think you would be here how are thing since john passed ?" he asked carefully trying not to make her feel gloom " It's been rough but I'm..... I'm managing " Sarah said
Bill notices Alrich and Ursa right behind her " Oh where are my manners Bill, Bill Anderson " bill said as he shook Alrich's hand " Alrich wren and this is my wife Ursa" Alrich said as he introduce his wife who also shook his hand "nice to meet you Ma'am" Bill said
" Mr Anderson what are you doing Here I thought you were out of the state ?" Sarah asked her neighbor
" Well I just thought I'd come by and look at this old stuff one more time it's just helps me think now since the world is at war again" Bill Anderson as he looked back at the exhibit when bill said since the world is at war again
" Excuse me but what do you mean again?" Ursa asked wanting to know what he meant
Bill took a deep breath " one hundred some years ago a war that was known as the war to end all wars ended in a peace treaty but at the cost of 37 million people to ended my father fought in that war and when I asked him what it was like" bill stopped to catch his breath
" He told me that son don't ever go to war because even if you do come home your still there on the battlefield fighting for your life and the faces of the men that you kill or the men that die all around stay with you no matter what. then in the span 21 years the another war started in the united states wanted to stay out because of all the men that where torn apart 116,708 us troops went over there 204,000 where wounded and 126,000 where killed but all that changed where the Japanese who we thought wanted peace attacked the US fleet at pearl harbor we lost 2403 good men there who where just a sleep and 1,177 where on one ship the USS Arizona my best friend was on that ship and he didn't make it the next day we went to war" Bill stopped to keep from tears rolling down his face
" I lied about my age like me and the rest of my friends did I was sixteen and we signed up and the next thing we knew we where in boot camp then half of us went to the pacific and the others went to north Africa or Europe and what we saw was something that would follow us for the rest of ours life and no fire in hell could burn it away especially Europe " Bill stopped as tears started to roll down his face
" I saw my best friends blown to pieces in the war and Europe It was much worse they found these camps and soon to find out they were extermination camps used to kill men women and children who deemed unworthy of the dictatorship that started the war and even small babies where killed finally after so much fighting the war ended I almost didn't see it but a private saved my life on hacksaw ridge the privates name was Desmond doss he was a conscientious objector who didn't believe in killing people " Bill said to them as he stopped to take a drink of water that he had with him
" A soldier who refuse to kill in a war is nothing more but a mere coward" Ursa said since she stuck to her Mandalorian heritage
" your right but your also wrong you see he saved me and seventy four other soldiers in the process after that we saw him as hero who risked his life to save men even thought he was all alone he did it no matter what. After that the war ended with the cost 50 to over 80 million lives then five years later another one started but I didn't get involved seeing men die in front of your eyes with missing legs arms and part of there heads crying for a medic or there mother scars you for the rest of your life and that's the unfortunate and tragic part about war " bill said
he placed his hand on alrich and looked at him " don't every hope for war son because you end up just like and the other men who if fought with did broken inside and still living on the battlefield for the rest of your life and so will the images of those men as well " Bill said to the three he gets up and walks out of the exhibit leaving the three of them standing there
Ursa had thought about what bill told her so many lives lost in a war just for another to start fives years after the one he had fought ended it made he think about what would happen when this war ends
