Hi everyone. So the past couple of days I've been reading the book "The purpose driven life" by Rick Warren. It is a really amazing book that talks about how we find our purpose and what our God given purpose should be. A couple of days ago I was reading the first chapter about where we are supposed to find our purpose. The thought to ponder was "It's not all about me". The chapter goes on to explain that our life and purpose are not about what we get out of it. It's about how we can glorify God and serve him. It's not about getting famous or getting it all right. God wants us to use our gifts to serve him and love him. Like the words of a song go, "It's not for us, it's all for you!" I can't remember the song at the moment but the words are still such a good reminder.
So now I've been thinking about whether I'm using my gifts for God's glory or if I'm just trying to get things for myself. Am I using what I have to further his kingdom? This should be our ultimate goal, using every gift he has given us to lead people to him. Sometimes we just need a reminder to check our motives and refocus. I know that this is something that always helps me to point me in the direction that God wants me to go.
I really encourage you to check your heart and see if your motives are right. Are you doing everything for your own purposes or for God's glory? It will get you thinking in a different way and you'll start seeing the world and everyone around you a little bit differently.
