BIG JOHN
"John do you know why I picked you to move out here and pretty much run this new group home?" Devin Cunningham asked and I shrugged, to be perfectly honest I was still trying to figure that out, as well as questioning why I even agreed to it in the first place. "It's because you know these kids.... like me we both grew up in the system, we know that there's a better way out and they respond better to people who are like them. Yeah, I could've went out and hired someone with a bunch of degrees and better credentials but you can reach these young men far better than some outsider." Devin said as we walked through the six bedroom, four and a half bathroom house on outskirts of Seattle... I'll say this about Devin, when it came to houses this dude had impeccable taste. "The rest of the staff will be here shortly and residents will show up through out the day, now these dudes are a lot different than the kids back in Columbus... I hand picked these young men myself and I feel like you're up for the challenge and as of right now this will be the only house, there's a little trouble getting another house because 'they' really don't trust that this will work so they wanna wait to see how this turns out before allowing me to open another house....." Devin said as someone start ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door obnoxiously.
"It's about damn time, got me standing out here in the fuckin rain like some side chick waiting on the main chick to go to work." This dude said walking into the house and looking around, "Ayy I'm going to need my first paycheck today and don't act like you don't got it because I see that car out there with the brand new tags on it and from what I'm hearing somebody just got paid a lot of money." The dude said.
"Will let me talk to you for a second." Devin said pulling the dude Will to the side and they started arguing for a second before they walked back over to me. "John this is my boy Will he's going to be helping out here temporarily and don't worry he's not as bad as he comes across, but look I gotta meeting to get to I'll be back tonight so introduce myself to the boys." Devin said walking out.
"Ayy let's just get everything out in the open now... yeah Devin is my bro and we've been boys since middle school but I'm not here to step on your toes or anything like that, I'm just here to help my boy then I'm out.... unless I actually end up reall enjoying it but the thing is this is your show and I'm here to help in any way that I can." Will said and I nodded. "You don't talk much do you?" He asked.
"Nah.... I mean I do but I'm more of a laid back dude and it takes me a while to open up to people, I guess that's a blessing and a curse; a blessing because it gives me an unbiased opinion when it comes to people but a curse because I come off as cold and uninterested." I said, Will nodded and for the next twenty minutes, we got to know each other until the other staff members got there and then the first two residents arrived..... They seemed good-spirited but I could tell they had some mischief behind their playful smiles, it was going to take me a while to tell them apart but I'd figure it out.
"Are we the first ones here?" The one on the left asked and I nodded. "Damn that's wassup that means we get to pick our rooms first, I'm about to go plant my flag before everyone else gets here." He said and started for the stairs but I stopped him.
"Nah not yet I think we should introduce ourselves first before y'all find y'alls room. I'm John or Big John whichever works for y'all." I said and the rest staff introduced themselves to the twins.
"I'm Marcelino." The one standing by the stairs said.
"I'm Mauricio, look I'm all for this getting to know each other thing but can we please go put our stuff in our rooms? Because I'm trying to get the biggest room in the house before these other niggas get here." He said grabbing the trash bag that he and his twin brother brought in with them and I nodded as they took off upstairs.
