Bored, Louis leaned against a table and stared into the void. He felt out of place and just wanted to leave, but he couldn't do that to Eleanor. It was her party and he would be there for her no matter how shit he felt. Xander's house was huge and filled with countless people. Most of them Louis didn't know. Here and there he recognized faces from school he didn't really want to see. There was no trace of his friends.
"Here, please. It took me forever to find something normal to drink that doesn't make you drunk within three seconds" Luke handed Louis a glass.
"Thank you. Is it really that bad?" Louis frowned.
"Alcohol over alcohol and probably worse. I have a very bad feeling" Luke announced worriedly.
"Me too. I'm going to try to keep an eye on Xander as much as possible. Do you help me? I don't trust him" Louis asked Luke for help.
"Sure, you can count on me. Where is Xander right now?" Luke looked around, searching for Xander.
"Over there" Louis pointed to the end of the large pool.
"Typical. Just search a few half naked girls and water and you'll find Xander" Luke grimaced.
"Yes, water, great" Louis murmured softly.
"Have you seen El already?" Luke asked oblivious.
"Not yet. Presumably she's inside waiting for her friends" Louis guessed.
"I haven't met anyone we know except Shawn and Nick, who strangely don't drool over the girls like Xander and Aidan" Luke noted.
"Sooner or later they will. We'll talk about Shick here" Louis chuckled.
"Niall is not good for you. Not every duo needs a ship name" laughed Luke amused.
"I can't help it. His madness rubs off" joked Louis.
"Louis, you are here" Eleanor happily fell into Louis' arms.
"Of course. Where else should I be? It's your birthday" he hugged her tightly.
"Apparently not everyone sees it that way" she let go of him sadly.
"Is something wrong?" Louis asked her worriedly.
"Look around. Do you see any of my friends? Liam? Niall? Ash?" she pointed to her surroundings.
"Not really, maybe ...".
"Cami or Haiz?" she interrupted him. Louis just shook his head.
"Not even my girls are here" she hung her head low.
"Wait, Dani and Sophia aren't here?" Louis wondered.
"No, and I don't know why" Eleanor replied.
"We are here and will not go" Luke assured her.
"Thanks, Luke, you're a great friend. Are you two here together?" Eleanor wanted to know.
"Yeah, we came together, but this isn't a date, if that's what you mean" Luke replied honestly.
