OWENS POV
"I Uh," I stuttered, "your mom and I are just friends."
"Isn't that what they all say tho?" She said.
"No," I said.
"Alright fine," she chuckled. I tried to cover it up that I liked Amelia but since she asked she knew. My phone rang and I looked at it and it was Amelia.
"Hello?" I said.
"Owen," Amelia said sobbing, "Owen I need you."
"What happened?" I said and walked into the other room, "What happened are you okay?"
"He-He's in jail," she said crying, "I sent my kids' father to jail."
"Okay," I said, "okay it's okay."
"It's not okay how am I supposed to tell them," she cried.
"When they're ready they'll understand," I said softly.
"How," she cried. All I wanted to do was wrap my arms around her and hold her while she was crying.
"He's away for 7 years," she said quietly.
"Okay," I said, "Amelia I promise it'll be okay."
"How," She said again, "none of this is okay, none of this was supposed to happen."
"Some things happen for a reason," I said.
"This one makes no sense," she said, "he deserves to go to jail and I'm upset that he did why am I stupid."
"Amelia you're not stupid," I said, "and it's normal, you loved him."
"Yeah I did that's the worst part," she cried, "oh my god I'm a fucking mess."
"Hey it's okay," I said.
"I miss you," She said.
"I miss you too," I said.
"I want to fly back tonight," she said, "I can't stay here."
"What did Derek say?" I asked.
"He said in the morning we can talk about going back earlier," she said, "it's late anyway."
"Yeah it's almost 9," I said.
"I miss my kids," she said quietly, "I wish I never came here."
"I'll put them on the phone," I said.
"Thanks you're the best," she said. That made me smile and I walked into the other room.
"Hey Emma do you want to talk to your mom?" I said. She nodded and I handed the phone over.
EMMAS POV
I took the phone from Owen and I needed to know what happened with my dad.
"Hey mom," I said.
"Hey," she said, I could tell she was crying.
"Mom did he go to jail," I said.
"Can we not talk about it?" She said.
"Mom," I said.
"7 years," she said. I could feel my chest tighten up and I froze, I knew part of me wanted him to go away but part of reality just hit me.
"Are you still there?" My mom asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said, "it's okay I'm fine."
"Don't tell your siblings," she said.
"I won't," I said.
"Can I talk to them?" She asked.
"Uh I think Izzy is asleep but Joey might be up," I said and walked upstairs. I opened Bailey's door and both Bailey and Joey were asleep. I shut their light off which was left on and closed the door.
"Sorry he's asleep," I said.
"No worries," she said.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm okay," she lied.
"You don't have to lie," I said.
"I'll be okay," she said.
"Mom," I said.
"It's okay," she said, "and I love you."
"I love you too," I said.
"So how was today? Were your siblings good?" She asked.
"Yeah of course," I said.
"Is Meredith there?" She asked.
"Uh no she had a 911 surgery," I said, "she should be back soon though that was a while ago."
"Oh okay no worries," she said.
"Do you want to talk to Owen again?" I said, putting emphasis on the Owen part.
"Uh Yeah," she chuckled.
"Okay hold on," I said.
"Okay thanks I love you and get some sleep," she said.
"I will and I love you too," I said.
"I'm also sorry," she said.
"About what?" I said.
"About your father," she said.
"That's not your fault," I said.
"I know," she said.
"Okay I'm giving the phone back to Owen," I said.
"Ok love you," She said.
"Love you too," I said and walked into the kitchen and handed Owen the phone.
"Thanks," He said and held the phone up to his ear and walked into the other room. I wondered what they talked about. I grabbed my notebook that I brought with me to finish some math homework. Math was actually not my subject at all, I'm so bad at it. I was also trying to listen to what Owen was saying. I got up to go to the fridge since it was closer to the hallway.
"Amelia clam down it's going to be okay," he said. There was a long pause and then he said, "I miss you too." Which was kinda cute. I don't really like the idea of my mom dating anyone after my dad but Owen's nice so I wouldn't mind if it was him, but I'd rather her not date really but that's not my call. I grabbed a water and sat back at the table and Owen came back in.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey whatcha doing?" He asked.
"Math homework," I said.
"You good at math?" He asked.
"No," I chuckled.
"Do you want help?" He asked.
"If you can figure this out then yes," I laughed. I handed my notebook and he looked confused at first but then looked like he got it.
"I got this hold on," He chuckled and pulled up a chair.
AMELIAS POV
"Owen I wanna go home," I complained. I was laying on the hotel room bed talking to Owen. I got to talk to Emma which was nice but unfortunately Joey and Izzy were asleep.
"I know," he said.
"I miss you," I said, "you're a good person to talk to."
"I miss you too," He said, "and I'm always here."
"Thanks I appreciate that," I said.
"Why don't you get some sleep? It'll probably make you feel better," he suggested.
"I'd just lay in bed thinking about Spencer," I said sadly. Derek opened the door with some Chinese food and I figured I should go.
"Hey I gotta go Derek's back with food," I said.
"Okay bye," He said.
"Bye love you," I said and hung up. I hadn't registered what I said until i put my phone down.
"I just," I said and looked at Derek, "I didn't say that did I?"
"I think you did," he chuckled.
"Fuck," I said.
"Amelia don't think too much into it, I bet he wanted to say it back before you hung up," he said.
"Why do I mess everything up," I complained.
"You don't," Derek said.
"Fuck I just really like him," I said.
