OWENS POV
Amelia has been home from the hospital for almost a week. It was going to be a hard recovery on her. She's been so incredibly sore lately that she mostly just stays in bed. I feel so bad for her. I've taken a few days off of work to be with her and help out with Joey, Izzy, and Emma. I was downstairs cooking lunch with the kids. We've been a lot closer lately since Amelia and I have been dating for a while. I heard someone walk into the kitchen and I turned and it was Amelia.
"Hey," I smiled, it was good to see her up.
"I was halfway down the stairs and couldn't turn around so here we are," She chuckled. I walked over and kissed her head. She still had bandages on her stomach and chest from all of the surgery from the bleeding. I finished lunch and I helped Amelia sit down and ate with her.
"Dude my whole torso is just stiff," she chuckled. I frowned.
"I hate to see you in pain," I frowned.
"Hey I'm alive," she said, "remember that."
"Yes," I said, "I know." I kissed her head and pulled her into me.
"Whatcha making?" She asked.
"Grilled cheese," I chuckled, "you want one?"
"No I'm okay." She said, "thank you tho."
"Of course," I said and kissed her head.
"Hey mom can I go to the beach with Carly tomorrow?" Emma asked.
"Yeah if she can drive you," Amelia said, "cause I still can't drive."
"I could drop her off," I suggested.
"Or that," she smiled.
"So its a yes?" Emma smiled.
"Yeah," Amelia said, "just don't get sunburnt or in trouble."
"Okay thanks," Emma smiled. Emma ran into the other room to call her friend and Amelia hugged me again. She nuzzled her face into my chest. She's been super tired lately from basically lying in bed all day.
"Wanna help me walk up the stairs," she chuckled.
"Sure," I chuckled. I put my arm around her and we walked upstairs.
"I really wish my body would just get better," she chuckled.
"Yes but you're alive," I said, grateful for that every morning I wake up next to her.
"Yeah," she smiled, "I am."
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," she smiled.
"Do you need anything," i asked.
"A hug?" She said cutely.
"Come here," I said and hugged her.
"Owen?" She said.
"Yeah?" I said.
"I know I can't drive right now, but now I'm scared," she said quietly.
"It's okay," I said, "Amelia that's normal."
"But I have to and I'm scared," she said.
"Hey I can drive for a little while okay?" I said.
"Also I keep having nightmares about the accident and one of us keeps dying," she said.
"What? Why didn't you tell me?" I said.
"Cause it's kinda stupid," she shrugged.
"Amelia it's not stupid," I said, "I had a nightmare the other day about losing you in that accident okay?"
"It was so scary," she said quietly. This was the first time we were actually talking about the accident.
"Yeah," I said, "i was really scared that I was going to lose you."
"I thought I was gonna lose you," She said.
"Come here," I said. I wrapped my arms around her and lightly rubbed her back.
"I love you so much and I was so scared that you were gonna die because I passed out and didn't know what was going on," she said crying.
"I know I know," I said, "and I love you, so much Amelia, and I thought I was gonna lose you too and it was the scariest moment of my life, but hey were both here now, and we're both still ok and alive."
"Yeah," Amelia sniffled. I kissed her head and ran my fingers through her hair. We hugged for a while. Just silently having the other in our arms gave us the reassurance we needed. I can't and don't want to think about my life without her, I don't think I can do it without her.
