EMMAS POV
I was bored as fuck at the hospital. Today I did something really stupid and my mom is going to kill me. I was in my mom's office in her chair and it was so boring here. I looked at her desk and there was a cute photo of Joey, Izzy, and I. I smiled and looked over at the other photos of us and then Owen and Asher. Her desk was cute. I also didn't have my phone which sucked. The door opened and it was my Uncle Derek.
"So you're home early from school," He said.
"I'm a legend," I said, "first day of school suspension."
"Do you really feel like a legend?" He said.
"No," I said and looked down, "my mom hates me."
"She doesn't hate you," he said and sat down in the chair across from me.
"I keep making dumb mistakes," I said, "I'm just trying my best but then he comes around and it all goes away."
"Mike?" He said.
"Yes," I said.
"Did you vape at school?" He said.
"No," I said, "I just had it but I didn't do it."
"Were you going to?" He said.
"I mean yeah," I said, "and it's dumb yeah."
"Emma that's dangerous for your body," he said.
"Yes okay I know," I said.
"How long did she ground you for?" He asked.
"2 months," I said.
"You must have really pissed her off," he said.
"What else is new," I said. His pager went off and he frowned.
"Just make better choices," he said.
"Yeah I'm working on it," I said.
"Work harder," he said and closed the door.
"Shit," I said to myself. The door opened again and it was Owen.
"Okay I get it I don't need another lecture," I said.
"I'm getting Joey and Izzy from school you want to come?" He offered.
"No," I said.
"Fair enough," he said and closed the door. I looked around my mom's office and it was just a regular office. I don't even know what I was looking for but I was that bored. I opened the top draw and it was a photo of my mom and dad. I didn't know she still had any photos of him. I opened the second draw and the door opened.
"Hey is there a chart in here?" My mom said as she came in. I looked down in the draw and it was a box of condoms. I chuckled and looked up at her.
"I don't know but there's these," I said and held the box up. Her face got bright red and I laughed.
"Put them away they're for patients," She said.
"Owens a patient?" I said.
"Emma put them away," she said and grabbed the box from me.
"Would not expect you to have sex at work," I said and looked at her.
"Shut up," She said, "you're pushing it." She grabbed a folder off her book shelf and looked at me and sighed.
"Don't go through my stuff," she said.
"Why what else are you hiding besides condoms?" I said.
"Emma," She said.
"Fine," I said. She gave me back the box of condoms and grabbed another piece of paper.
"Just put them away," she said.
"Is there a size on these things?" I chuckled.
"Emma I swear to god," she said and ripped the box out of my hands and put them back in the draw.
"Go find something to do," My mom said.
"It's boring here," I said.
"Well you should have thought about that before you decided to vape," she said.
"For the last time I didn't," I said.
"Well I'm sorry but I don't believe you," She said.
"I know," I said.
"Did you see Owen?" She asked.
"Yeah why?" I said.
"Did he leave to go get Joey and Izzy?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said, "he left a few minutes ago."
"Okay," she said, "thanks."
"Mhm," I said, "you got any surgeries soon?"
"3:15," she said. I looked at the clock and it was only 2:40.
"So you get the great honor of my presence for the next 35 minutes," I said.
"20 I scrub in at 3," she said.
"Cool," I said.
"Yup," She said.
"Do you have a pencil?" I asked.
"Why," She said.
"You have so sign shit," I said.
"Use a pen," she said. I picked a pen off her desk and handed it to her an gave her my folder with the papers.
"I saved you half the papers," I said. She gave me a look and rolled her eyes.
"Not funny," she said.
"Well I thought it was," I said.
"Yes you're very funny," she said sarcastically as she signed the last paper.
"Why didn't you want to go with Owen?" She asked.
"Cause I didn't want to," I said.
"Oh well if you did you'd be at grandmas with ur siblings and not here," she shrugged.
"If I went with Owen I wouldn't have found your secret stash of condoms," I chuckled.
"Did that really make your day?" She sighed.
"Yes I would not have expected it from you," I said.
"Just don't go through my stuff," she said.
"Why what's in here?" I asked.
"Just leave my stuff alone," she said.
"Fine," I said.

Both Owen and my Mom were in surgery. Today was taking forever to get by. I got bored again and decided my mom would never know if I went through her stuff anyway. I opened another draw and it was just post it's and pencils and all that stuff. The next draw was just papers and files. There had to be something good in here. I opened the bottom draw and there was a pregnancy test in a box. I took the box out and the test was already taken, it was negative. I put it back in the box and back in her draw so she wouldn't know. I got up and decided to walk to the cafeteria. I saw my mom and Owen but they didn't see me. I grabbed something to eat and pulled a chair up next to my mom.
"Hey," She said.
"Hey," I said. I could tell they were both really mad at me. I sat there awkwardly as my mom and Owen exchanged glances and then looked at me.
"Do you have your own vapes?" My mom asked, "or juuls whatever the fuck they're called."
"No," I said.
"Are you lying?" She asked.
"Check my fucking room," I said.
"You think I won't," she said.
"At least I don't have a secret stash of condoms in my desk," I said. At the same time my mom and Owen looked up at each other.
"I told you we have to have them for patients," My mom said.
"Mhm," I said.
"It's true," Owen said.
"You're bad liars," I said.
"So are you," my mom said sternly.
"Sure I am," I said.
"You're really trying to get in more trouble aren't you?" She said.
"Nah," I said.
"Well you're walking on a fine line," she said.
Owen mouthed something to my mom and she nodded. I rolled my eyes and got up.
"Where are you going?" My mom asked.
"Anywhere but here," I said.
