AMELIAS POV
"can I see a picture of Izzy and Joey?" He asked. I took my phone out of my pocket and showed him a picture of me with them on the last day of school. He smiled and looked up at me.
"They're so big," he said.
"Yeah," I smiled.
"I miss them," he said.
"They miss you too," I said.
"I miss you," he said.
"I miss you too," I said.
"Do you?" He asked.
"Yeah," I said, "Youre a good father to them."
"Yeah," he sighed, "Make sure Emma's safe with that boy."
"Oh Owen and I are on it," I said.
"The moves been hard on her?" He asked.
"Yeah lately it has been," I sighed.
"I'm sorry," he said.
"I chose to move," I said.
"Yeah but because of me," he said.
"It's ok," I said. A buzzer buzzed and it was time for him to go. Emma ran back over and took the phone from me and said, "Bye dad I love you." He smiled and said I love you back and I waved goodbye as he was walking away. Emma and I got up and started walking out of the prison. That was easily one of the hardest things I've ever done. Seeing him again was so hard.
"You okay?" Emma asked. I looked over at her and shrugged.
"Guess so," I said.
"I miss him," she said.
"I miss him too," I said.
"Yeah," she said and we got in the car and I started driving and my mind just kept going to Spencer. The car ride to the hotel was silent and I pulled in the parking lot and I looked at my phone and I had a text from Owen. It said "hope everything is going well I love you." I sent back, "I love you too", not wanting to talk about seeing Spencer because I didn't know how I felt about it. I turned the tv on in the hotel room and pulled my hair into a bun. Emma went on her phone for a while.
EMMAS POV
My mom was completely quiet when we got back. Not one word. I knew she was thinking about my dad, I mean I was too. I wonder what he said to her, or if they fought. Maybe that's why she was quiet. If something was up she'd text Owen so I figured I'd ask him.
"Owen," I sent.
"Hey what's up," he sent.
"Have you talked to my mom?" I sent.
"No why did something happen?" He sent.
"She hadn't said a word since we got to the hotel room," I sent.
"Did she talk to Spencer?" He sent.
"Yeah," I sent.
"I'll call her," he sent. My moms phone rang and I watched her decline the call and roll over. I knew something was really wrong.
"What did he say?" Owen texted me.
"I don't know," I sent.
"Hey mom?" I said.
"Yeah?" She said quietly.
"Are you Okay?" I asked.
"No," she said.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I said.
"Not really," She said.
"Well I think it's a good idea to talk," I said.
"You're not a therapist," she said.
"Yes but if I was this is what they do," I chuckled.
"Is she okay?" Owen texted me.
"I'm trying to get her to talk," I sent.
"So," I said, "feeling time let's go."
"Emma no," she said.
"Clearly something is bothering you can we talk about it?" I said.
"Fine," She said and sat up. She looked at me and it was obvious she had been crying. She fixed her bun and looked at me again.
"Mom what's wrong?" I asked.
"Emma really? What's wrong?" She said. I sighed and looked at her.
"It was not a good idea coming here," She said.
"Why," I said.
"Why? Really?" She sighed, "I miss him that's the problem. I shouldn't have talked to him because now I really miss him, not even romantically that's done but I miss him in my life, for 17 years he was my best friend."
"Awe mom," I said.
"This is stupid," she said and got up and grabbed the key card.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'm getting coffee," she said, "you want some?"
"No I'm okay," I said.
"Okay," She said. When she closed the door behind her I decided to call Owen.
"Hey," I said.
"Is she okay?" He said.
"Yeah I think so," I said.
"What happened?" He asked, and I could tell how worried he was about her.
"I think seeing him again just took her by surprise since shes been in denial that we were even coming here," I said.
"Yeah," he said.
"She's okay," I said.
"I'm glad," he said, "it was hard on her going there."
"Yeah I feel bad," I said.
"Don't," he said. I heard the hotel room door open and my mom came back in with a coffee and she was on her phone.
"Who are you talking to?" She asked.
"Owen," I said, "wanna say hi?" She smiled softly and nodded.
"Yeah," she said. I gave her the phone and now she seemed to be in a better mood. She walked into the bathroom and closed the door to talk to Owen. I'm glad she found someone who makes her happy.
