AMELIAS POV
My mom was staying the night to help out with the kids and Derek had to go home. Emma was in her room and I'm pretty sure she locked herself in there, I made sure to lock the window. I was sitting in the kitchen and Owen came in.
"Come here," he said. I got up and he wrapped his arms around me. I started crying because tonight I was so scared that I could have lost Emma.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I said. He rubbed my back and kissed my head.
"You should go talk to her," he said.
"I know," I said, "but I'm just going to blow up at her and it's going to be bad."
"Okay," he said. He rocked us back and forth and I buried my face in his chest.

It was later and I figured now I could talk to Emma. I knocked on her door and I didn't get an answer.
"Emma," I said.
"Go away," she said. I opened the door and she was sitting on her bed crying.
"Mom go away," she said.
"Emma please talk to me," I said. She looked up and her eyes were all red from crying.
"I'm sorry," she said, "I'm really sorry mom. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. After we moved here, it was hard for me to make friends and I found Mike and he liked me so I fell for it and did bad things. I only did it to be cool and it got me here, which doesn't make me feel cool because you're mad at me. I really didn't want any of it to go this far because I knew it was bad but I just wanted to fit in like I did in LA but nothing worked, but Mike made it feel alright but it wasn't. So I'm sorry." I could see the tears forming in her eyes and I wrapped my arms around her.
"I'm just glad you're safe," I said and kissed her head.
"I'm sorry about the party," She said, "and for what I said in the car."
"Promise me it won't happen again," I said.
"It won't," she said, "and you can keep me grounded or whatever because I'm breaking up with Mike tomorrow at school anyway."
"Thank god," I chuckled with a sigh of relief.
"I'm just stubborn I didn't want you to be right about him," she sighed.
"Your mother is always right," I said.
"Can we start today over?" She said.
"No," I said, "but you can wake up tomorrow and go to school and make good decisions."
"Yeah," she said. She sat up and she was still crying.
"I miss how it used to be with us," she said, "before I ruined everything over a boy."
"You didn't ruin everything Emma," I said, "sometimes there's rough spots and it'll be okay."
"Thank you for getting me out of that party," she said, "I didn't want to be there anyway."
"Then why did you go?" I said.
"Because Mike wanted to," she said.
"You know you don't have to do that," I said, "you're an amazing little girl and you don't need to do that type of stuff to have friends or to have fun."
"I wish that was enough here," she said, which broke my heart.
"It's enough for the right people," I said and hugged her, "the right people might take longer to come into your life, but when they do you won't regret the wait."
"I love you mom," she said.
"I love you too," I said, "Can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah," she said.
"Did you ever have sex with Mike?" I asked.
"Oh my god Mom! NO!" She said, "I was stupid but not that stupid!"
"Okay," I chuckled, "I was just making sure."
"I'm not the one with the stash of condoms," she chuckled.
"We're forgetting about those," she chuckled, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure," I said.
"Are you pregnant?" She asked. I chuckled.
"No," I said, "why?"
"Cause I saw the pregnancy test in ur desk," She said.
"I knew you'd go through my stuff," I chuckled, "but no actually it was negative."
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah," I said, "I was just stressed so I missed my period and freaked out but it's all good. And Owen and I aren't trying for another kid right now."
"Were you stressing because of me?" Emma asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"I'm sorry," She said.
"It's okay," I said, "I got my period this morning anyway."
"That sucks," she said.
"Oh well," I chuckled.
"Wait we if you and Owen weren't trying you're just having sex? Gross!" She said. I laughed and hugged her.
"I'm an adult," I chuckled.
"No you're gross," She chuckled.
"Shut up," I said.
"Are we Okay?" She asked.
"You're still grounded," I said.
"I know," she said.
"Why don't you get some sleep you have school tomorrow," I said.
"Okay," she said.
"So you're breaking up with Mike tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yeah," she sighed, "it's what's best."
"It is," I said, "Are you okay about it."
"I guess so," she said.
"It'll be okay," I said and kissed her head.
"I know," she said.
"And I will always be here for you," I said.
"I love you mom," She said.
"I love you too Emma," I said.
