✽SET IN THE BAD ERA✽
|1989|
You laughed as you walked into your bedroom, fastening your hair into a loose bun. Luisa, your best friend and roommate, followed you - moving to stand at your doorway as you walked to your closet. You opened the doors and fetched your navy blue coat. You put it on and turned around to face your best friend.
"All I'm saying is that I think my soulmate got hit by a car and died," you raised an eyebrow at your best friend. You were getting ready to go to the mall for some grocery shopping, and you and Luisa were talking about a random topic that somehow led to the discussion of you not being able to find the right man for you. All your relationships had ended badly, and you had somehow lost belief in true love.
"(Y/N), there is a guy out there for you," she folded her arms. "And you will meet him soon. You've just got to have faith,"
"I have faith that I will die alone," you grabbed your purse from your dressing table. "I'm sure of it," you moved to put on your black ballet flats.
"Don't be negative," she said as you walked out of the room and pulled the door shut. "Who knows? Maybe you'll bump into him soon," she said from behind you as you raced down the staircase. "He might be right in front of you!"
You giggled and arrived at the front door, pulling it open. The air outside was cold, and you were grateful for the fact that you had a coat on.
"I'll be right back!" you called before stepping out and letting the door shut. The mall wasn't too far from where you lived, so you decided to walk.
You rubbed your upper arms and sighed. Perhaps walking would give you some time to think things, in your life, over.

It had been fifteen minutes since you had arrived at the mall, and you were currently paying for the items that you intended to purchase. The cashier was kind, and the both of you conversed about the weather as she scanned your items.
"It's so cold," she laughed. "I just wanted to sleep, this morning,"
"Me too," you giggled. "I just want to stay in bed on cold mornings,"
"The same could be said for me," she responded, tapping the screen in front of her. "That'll be thirty one dollars,"
You opened your purse and fished out a fifty dollar note, handing it to her. She thanked you and opened the cash register, placing the note where it belonged before giving you your change.
"Thanks, I hope to see you around," you said as you packed the items into a plastic bag.
"I hope to see you around too," she nodded as you took the bag and walked out of the mall.
You sighed and walked along the road. It was very cold at this point, and you decided that you would go straight to bed when you got home.
As you walked, you hummed a soft tune to yourself. You had always loved music, and you enjoyed singing whenever you were alone. You sang a few words in a high pitched tone before you bumped into someone, making you fall onto the cold pavement.
"Oh dear, miss, I am so sorry," a soft male voice said as a hand reached out to help you to your feet. You shook your head and grabbed your items, proceeding to grab the person's large hand.
"Oh no, it happens all the....time," you whispered the last word when you saw whom was standing in front of you.
Michael Joseph Jackson.
