Chapter Eight

Hawak hawak ang cellphone sa tenga, nakipag-usap si Cole sa kabilang linya upang makibalita tungkol sa search and rescue na nagaganap upang hanapin ang katawan ni Chase.

Napabuga siya ng hangin ng malaman na hanggang ngayon, wala pa ding nakikitang katawan sa kabila ng halos limang linggong paghahanap!

Pagkatapos ng nangyaring labanan sa Israel mula sa grupo ng mga terorista na gumagamit ng mga bata para gawing sundalo, agad ibinigay ng commander ang long overdue na bakasyon nila.

He was kind of frustrated when the commander told them they can finally have their 'long awaited' vacation. Halata talaga sa mga mukha nila na ayaw nilang kunin ang bakasyon na inio-offer nito simply because they couldn't leave the kids behind. And to think na sila pa ang nagrereklamo noong una ng hindi agad ibinigay nito ang bakasyon nila!

Napailing iling na lang siya. But in the end, wala din silang nagawa ng ibigay na sa kanila ang direct order na kailangan na nilang kunin ang pending leave nila.

They left Israel but the commander gave them the girl to look after habang hinihintay ang susunod na instruction ng opisina para dito and for the fists time he was hesitant. He was a bit alarmed when the commander told him that.

He doesn't usually question orders from the higher ups but when he was told about their plan, he couldn't help himself. Alam niya kung papaano tumakbo ang utak ng mga nakatataas sa kanila at nasa posisyon. At sa kaso ng bata, dalawa lang ang pwedeng mangyari, it's either they take her down or they give her the mercy to live.

Usually, wala siyang paki-alam sa kung ano man ang mangyari sa mga biktima na katulad ni Cece basta ang importante lamang sa kanya ay matapos niya ang ipinapagawang misyon sa kanya. Pero sa kasong ito, hindi niya mapigilan ang sariling hindi maki-alam. It's kind of personal but he has a soft spot for little girls like Cece.

It wasn't that easy to get the girl out of the country at all. She fought them tooth and nail just for her to remain in Israel. Talagang hindi nito maiwan ang kaibigan and they couldn't blame her. They've been basically in each other's lives through thick and thin for almost forever. And after what just happened to them, the emotional damage and all.. hindi talaga nila ito masisisi.

But it was a direct order from the higher ups. Their hands were tied and they couldn't do anything about it. By hook or by crook, kailangang maialis nila sa Israel ang bata. And so that was what they did.

Well, with a help of a tranquilizer of course.

At ngayon nga, nandito sila ngayon sa isang safehouse dito sa Colorado habang hinihintay nila ang susunod na instruction para sa bata.

Muli siyang napabuntong hininga.

"Did they find the body?"

Umiling si Cole sa tanong sa kanya ni Aiden.

"What? It's been almost a week and still nothing?"

Cole sighed. "The commander didn't let me join the search and rescue team so I don't have any idea how it had gone. He refused to give away informations about the search." Sagot niya bago sumalampak sa couch.

"Well none of us was allowed to join the team." Sagot ni Aiden sa kanya bago sumalampak sa bunk bed. "How about Kareem's men?"
