Shawn went back home. Angel was so happy. She would hold on to his leg all day. I know she was afraid of Shawn leaving again and I was too. Shawn would have to constantly reassure her that he would be right back ever time he went somewhere. She would even do it to me.
Angel didn't want to stay home. She would cry the moment we would start out the door and run to us. We had no choice but to take her with us when we left the house. Shawn had no objections. I think he missed her as much as she missed him.
The truth is I didn't want Angel in the house by herself any more than she had to be. It terrified me. Shawn could take care of himself but Angel was still a baby. She was three now. She couldn't defend herself. If Shawn and I didn't take care of her, no one would.
When Shawn was gone, Angel went with me to Cal and Emily's house. I would pack her a little all her toys. We would sit in the living room and play with Super Bear and her other tinker toys. Super bear is a bear Shawn and I bought her. I sewed the clothes for it and Shawn named him. She has had it since I can remember.
Emily would sit and play with us after she cleaned the house or cooked lunch. Emily never got angry with us or asked us to leave. We would stay till dark and then I would walk Angel home and tuck her in to bed.
Emily would teach me how to properly sew, cook, clean and much more. She made a lesson out of everything. If was doing something wrong, she would tell me I did a good job trying but that there was a different way to get it done better. She never lost her patience with me.
It was no surprise when Angel wanted to go see Cal and Em even after Shawn was back. After school, I would go to Shawn's. Angel would already have her bag packed waiting by the door for me. I tried to get Shawn to go but he refused. He didn't trust Cal or Em.
Mrs. and Mrs. Watts started living together again even though they were divorced. Things didn't improve. Things were worse than before. They merely started where they left off. They were at each others throats almost every night.
Shawn didn't hide that fact that he was regretting his decisions to come home. Wherever Shawn was those last few weeks was obviously better than home. I could tell by the look on his face when he had to go home.
I hated to see Shawn like that. After much nagging, I finally convinced Shawn to go see Cal and Em.
