Erik wanted to come home. Even though everyone knew how Erik was, a druggie and a thief, Cal let him come home. Cal would never turn his back on any of us, even Erik.
Cal gave him another chance but he had to follow some new rules. A curfew, he had to be home by supper every night and he had to go to school. Erik agreed to the terms but it didn't change anything. He seemed to cause more trouble than before.
He wasn't trying. At the table by six, barely eating anything and gone when it was time to clear the table. He went to school but left about 3rd period. His grades practically nonexistent. He just didn't care. Something we had in common.
Things began disappearing around the house. Money and some of Emily's jewelry and other various little valuable things. I knew who was doing. It wasn't like it was a big secret or anything. Erik was selling it to buy drugs.
I decided to confront Erik about the stuff that had been happening. Someone had to. It might as well have been me.
Erik was downstairs watching tv in the game room. Cal was in his office and Emily was in the kitchen. The stairs seemed to go on and on. Erik was sitting in one of the chairs flipping through channels with this vacant look on his face.
I don't remember what I said, but whatever it was made Erik pissed. He got up in my face. My anger rising. How dare he! I got up in his face too. I wasn't going to let him push me around. Erik smashed one into the wall behind me. Cal heard the noise and came rushing downstairs. He had to force Erik out of the room. Erik was screaming and shouting at me. Calling me a stupid Bitch and lots of other names.
Erik came back later that afternoon. He packed his bag and came upstairs. He tried to hug Angel but I pulled her away from him. I didn't want him near her let alone hugging her. The old Erik I would have but not this one. This mean shell of a boy I used to know. I guess that is the pot calling the kettle black isn't it.
