Things around the Watts house began to disappear. Shawn's stuff in particular had a nasty habit of vanishing. Shawn and I both knew his parents were hacking his stuff for money.
The sad thing is it wasn't just Shawn's stuff. I noticed that the stuff I bought Angel were beginning to disappear too. To me, that is the lowest of low, stealing from a poor defenseless three year old child. What kind of parents steal from their three year old's stuff?
It got so bad that Shawn would have to carry his things with him in his backpack and leave them in his locker. He even told Angel to carry what she needed with her. Angel did what her big brother told her.
This was the last straw for Shawn. After the week was done, Shawn went to Cal and Ems. He wanted to know if the offer to move in with them was still on the table. It was of course. Em was delighted. At least someone was.
That afternoon Shawn would have to tell his parents that he was leaving. Renee didn't protest at all. She grabbed a trash bag from under the sink. She put some of Shawn's things in it and threw it out the door.
"Ya'll a bunch of bad kids anyway!" she yelled grabbing another bag. "Don't you ever set foot on property again!"
Shawn didn't push her or engage in the argument she was attempting to start. She wanted Shawn to yell back. She wanted him to say something so she would have an excuse to hit him, but Shawn wouldn't give her the satisfaction. He picked up his bags and left.
I was happy for Shawn and Angel. They could sleep better at night. Shawn wouldn't have to leave his stuff in his locker and Angel wouldn't have to carry hers in her backpack. They wouldn't have to brush their teeth in the school sink or wash themselves in the school bathroom.
Cal and Emily even had a security alarm which made Shawn feel better. He was convinced that Caleb was going to come and force them to come back home.
The Vanelzing house is located somewhat next to the Watts house, which is further back. Cal and Emily's house is about the size of an average house but it is bigger than it looks.
Most of the rooms are on the main floor. When you first walk through the door, you can go right through the double wooden doors or you can go left down the hallway. If you go right through the doors, you will enter the kitchen. Continue and you will see three white doors.
One of the doors goes to the basement. In the basement there is a guest room and and the game room. The other door goes upstairs to Shawn's new room. The other white door on the left is a closet. Proceed to the living room and you will find two more doors. One is the a water closet and the other is Cal's office.
In the living room there is a huge flat screen TV and black leather couch with matching recliners. The couch is on the far wall next to the fireplace. Its not really a wall to be honest. Most of the walls are made of glass looking out to the outside. Emily likes natural light better than artificial light.
Shawn's room is much bigger than his old room, at least three times bigger. Go up the stairs and there is his closet. Keep going and you will see another bigger closet area. After the closet is a beautiful bathroom with a open shower and huge jet tub. I would just like to say that I love Shawn's tub. Sometimes I like to sit in his tub with a pillow. Once you pass the bathroom you are in Shawn's bedroom. Cal and Emily bought him a new full sized bed, a television, and a with a computer. All Shawn could say was "Wow".
Angel's room was downstairs. She even had her own bathroom too. Cal and Emily bought her a twin bed with a rail on the side, a doll house, and a bunch of little toys. Needless to say Angel was happy.
