Chris was getting really upset. He started fidgeting and pulling on his long sleeves to hide the bruises He went into a zone. He started staring at the floor, not looking at anything or anyone but his shoes.

The cop stepped towards Chris trying to see if he was alright, but the damage had been done. "No!" he screamed as he jumped away from the cop nearly tripping over his own feet.

Chris doesn't do well with other people. It took almost everything Emily had to convince him that he needed to go with us in the first place. He doesn't trust other people especially cops. I don't really blame him. What had the cops ever done for any of us?

I ran over to Chris and took his hand. I had to get him to calm down. Shawn always took my hand when I had an attack and it helped ground me. I was hoping that it would do the same for Chris. Chris's breathing became rapid. His hands were shaking.

"I wanna go home," he whispered.

"Okay, let's pay for this and then we'll go. Okay?" I said taking his hand in mine and pulling him along with me.

"You have to answer me," the cop called.

"I don't have to do anything but eat, breathe, and die," I angrily replied. This cop! Couldn't he see that Chris was hurting? Didn't he care? "We have money to pay for our shit you judgmental ass!"

Chris and I headed to the counter. We paid for his stuff and left. I should have called his supervisor and reported him. Chris couldn't stop shaking until we got home. He didn't talk to anyone for the next couple of days. He barely came out of his bed.

I wonder if that cop knew how much he set Chris back or if he even cared.
