"You can't leave him in the car Calabour!" Emily yelled.
"I can. Call the cops! We don't know that kid!" Cal shot back.
"Smartass you didn't know them either but we let them in," she argued.
Cal realizing he had been beat, left the room.
"Em, what's goin' on?" Shawn asked coming up the stairs.
"A boy broke into Cal's car and he didn't know till he got home. He's asleep in the backseat."
Needless to say it was the weirdest thing we had ever heard. How often do you hear something like that?
Curiosity got the better of us. We all wanted to see the mysterious burglar. We all played a game of rock, paper, scissors to see who would go. Luna won. Cal had carried him to the guest room and left him on the bed, so Luna went there.
She startled us when she came running back up the stairs with a smile on her face.
"You guys are never gonna believe us." Luna said, "it's Chris!"
"You need to tell Cal that we know em' before he calls the cops," Shawn laughed. Cal thought Chris was going to rob them blind as soon as we all went to sleep.
It does make you wonder what he thought about us. He probably thought we had sticky fingers to. It's kind of funny though. We would never steal from them. I wouldn't steal from them at least.
Shawn ended up being the one to explain to Cal that we knew him. Emily was smiling from ear to ear because Cal was wrong.
"See they know him," Emily commented. Cal looked at her with the "I get it look".
Emily told us to find him some clean clothes and to run him a bath. Erik and I went through Shawn's clothes and found some we thought would fit him. Chris looked like he would be Erik's size so I tried to find something that looked like it would be big enough for him. I went down to the guest room to see if he was awake.
He was. He was sitting on the bed looking around. I handed him the clothes then went to the bath room and started his bath water. I came back and showed him where the bathroom was and told him where the towels and wash clothes were.
When he was done, Erik lead him to the kitchen while I cleaned up the bathroom. Who knew that boy could have so much dirt on him? Emily made him something to eat. Cal told him he could stay if he wanted.
Chris went to bed after supper. In the morning, Emily went to call him for breakfast but he was gone. The bed was freshly made. Nothing in the room had been touched. It was like no one had been there at all. Chris had either made the bed and left early or never went to bed and left in the middle of the night.
We went out looking for him, but we couldn't find him. I even drew a sketch of Chris and showed people. Asking anyone that we saw if they had seen him. No body allegedly knew where he was. I'm sure someone knew but they weren't telling.
