With Shawn gone school became a more of a walking nightmare. Shawn's "friends" took this as an opportunity to torment me. It started Monday.
The bell rung and everyone started walking to their classes. No one was really hurrying because no one wanted to go to class. There was only one class people wanted to go to and that was Coach's class. He made it fun and entertaining. We were often debating in his class about different things. He challenged us to speak our minds about history.
I grabbed my things out of my locker and started down the hall. Justin, one of Shawn's friends came from the opposite direction. He smacked his hand down on my books knocking them out of my hand and continued down the hall with a smile on his stupid face.
The bell rang again signifying that I had better move my arse. I quickly gathered my things and went to class. I didn't even want to be here. I had contemplated skipping and going to Cal and Emily's house or pretending I was sick and staying in bed where no one could bother me.
The day went by faster than I thought it would have. Pretty soon it was the end of fifth period and the bell had rung again. Isn't it weird how our school lives revolve around a bell. What were we? Conditioned dogs?
I gathered my things and head out the door. My mind wasn't focused on walking. It was on writing something down in my planner. My feet came out from under me and I made contact with the hard tile floor. My books and papers scattered in various directions. No one stopped to help. They continued walking, stepping on my things as if they were just another piece of garbage that someone had left.
My eyes made contact with Justin's and Blake's, Shawn's other friend. Justin is one of the meanest people I have met.
"Go screw yourself," I shout shocked at the words that just escaped my mouth. I didn't mean to say it. It just came out.
Blake bends down next to me and takes my arm to help me up but Justin pushes me back down. He shoves Blake into the lockers.
"Freakazoid!" Justin yells but it really doesn't bother me.
"Dude! Chill!" Blake yells pushing him back but Justin shakes it off and storms off.
Blake bends down next to me again but I push him away. I don't need his help. He follows Justin around like a lost puppy. Who's to say he won't bother me too. I don't trust either of them.
"Leave me alone!" I yell. Blake starts to gather my things. Is he thick in the head? He stacks all my papers and puts them in my binder. He then picks up my books then stacks them on top of my binder.
"I'm sorry," he says handing me my stuff. He gets up and starts to walk away.
"I forgive you." Blake stops walking. He turns around to look at me but stops himself and continues to walk away. I don't think he knows what to say. I don't even know if he thought I meant it. I did mean it.
