Emily and I stood in the kitchen. Her open palm held waiting for me to hit it. Cal entered the front door but stopped when he saw us.
"What are you doing?" Cal asked. Emily dropped her arm and turned to Cal.
"Fighting," Emily replied.
Cal crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame. "Ah, how it going?"
Emily waved her hands at him, shooing him away. Cal threw his hands up knowing he had been defeated.
"I'm going. I'm going." Cal smiled.
Emily turned her attention back to me. She grabbed my hand, bawled it into a fist, and pushed it into her palm. She held up her other hand and pointed to it. "Come, hit."
I reared my arm back and threw my fist into her hand. Emily grabbed my arm and tossed me to the side. I quickly regained my footing and waited for her to tell me what to do next. Emily held up her hands again. She smiled at me and made another fist.
By the time Emily and I had finished sparing, it was time for her to start dinner. Emily and I started preparing that nights dishes. Em left me in charge of cutting the veggies and fruits. We were having gumbo and and homemade cheesecake.
Angel set the table with a little help from Chris. After it was ready, we all gathered in the dinning room and sat down. Shawn lead us in prayer. Everything was normal.
It was my turn to do dishes so when everyone finished eating I cleared the table. I was washing the dishes and placing the dry ones in the cabinet. Shawn was downstairs with Chris. Angel was getting ready for bed. To be honest, after dinner Erik and Luna kind of disappeared. Which wasn't out of the ordinary. They sometimes went off together after supper. Luna wanted family time with him.
Cal and Emily were getting ready for bed. Emily was probably drying her hair and Cal would have been in bed reading a book. Everyone had a schedule.
Everything was quiet. I didn't think anything was wrong. Everything felt normal. Once I finished putting up the dishes, I turned to leave but stopped dead in my tracks. There he was. Standing in the doorway. His cold eyes brimming with anger staring right with me. The silver tongued demon, Dietrich Vanelzing.
