Title: Lovely (part 3)

"Long time no see, huh Itachi?" I called to him, just as he was realizing that I broke the genjutsu. He was probably confused. It was damn near impossible to break a genjutsu casted by a sharingan user. I heard the brush behind me rustle as he came closer, his chakra invading my senses.

"Who are you?" He asked, now much closer behind me. I placed a smirk on my lips and turned my head slowly so he could see the side of my face, and so I could see him from my peripheral vision. Once his eyes caught mine, his expression changed completely.

"Orochimaru, go back to the base and report to Leader. I have to deal with this leaf shinobi." Itachi called coldly to the man now named Orochimaru. Orochimaru hummed disappointedly.

"Awe, no fun at all. I still haven't learned of your clan, dear." Orochimaru fussed. It almost sounded like he was hissing, like a snake. I huffed slightly before speaking up.

"The Daku." I called to him. He completely froze over before a sheer look of evil spread on his face. It was enough to make Jack Frost himself shiver.

"How fascinating. What a shame, what a waste. I suppose I'll take my leave then." Orochimaru stated, and then turned and ran back into the forest. He was gone. I sighed heavily, relieved for his absence, and turned slowly to face Itachi, a small smile on my lips. He looked happy, but also concerned, and angry.

"Why are you here? You didn't desert the village to join me did you?" Itachi asked quickly as he approached me. I exhaled heavily as my expression turned grave.

"No, I'm actually here on a mission. A secret one." I said, hinting at the obvious. Itachi's expression turned furious as he lowered his face more into his collar, his eyes squinted.

"Those bastards." Itachi growled deeply. I chuckled a singular time before replying.

"Yes, they've already heard everything under the sun from me, but I have to protect the village. I'm sorry Itachi, but I have to kill you, and then myself." I explained. Itachi's head snapped back up out of his collar as he looked at me determinedly.

"I won't allow that to happen." Itachi stated, deadly serious.

"Neither will I, at least half of it, if I can help it." I replied, matching his energy. Itachi's face suddenly went confused. Before he even began speaking, I was readying myself.

"What do you-" Itachi began to question, but before he could finish, I pulled a knife from my pouch and charged at him, catching him only slightly off guard. He dodged me fluidly, but just hardly. I continued to swing, but he continued to dodge, and we were getting nowhere. Neither of us really wanted to hurt the other and it was showing. I was getting more and more frustrated by the second.

"Attack me back!" I yelled as I threw my kunai to the side and pulled my sword from my back and held it out in front of me. Itachi knew that this meant that I was getting serious. His eyes widened as I charged at him again, but he was still able to dodge, just barely.

"I can't!" He yelled back at me. It was so emotional that my movements staggered as my eyes began to sting from the pain of it all.

"You have to!" I screeched and charged again. We continued to play the game of cat and mouse for what felt like an eternity, but suddenly he distanced himself a bit and stopped moving altogether. A small smile crept onto his lips as he closed his eyes and let out what sounded to be a blissful sigh. I panted a bit and kept my guard, sword raised but a confused look on my face.

"You really have gotten strong, (Y/n). Better than me, I'd say." Itachi spoke softly, a calm look on his face. I narrowed my eyes at him and scoffed slightly, failing to notice the flash of red behind his closed eyes.
