An hour before breakfast I hear the door unlock and my father enters. He looks at me and sighs.
'You didn't sleep again, did you?'
I shut the book and add it to the growing pile of read books. 'It was only one night. It doesn't matter.'
He throws his hands up in defeat. 'Get changed and make yourself presentable for breakfast,' he orders as he leaves. I throw a snowball at his retreating back and hit him. He spins around glaring at me and I smirk at him.
'Don't tell me what to do,' I tell him.
He narrows his eyes and stalks out of the room. I wait until the guard shuts the door before, I drag myself over to the walk-in robe to look at clothes for the new day.
An hour later I walk down to the dining hall and take my seat. Shifting over to the side of my chair away from Loki. He only glances at me in response before taking my plate and filling it with food. Minutes later Valarie enters and she glances around. Her eyes fall onto mine for a moment and she keeps looking around. She takes her seat and completely ignores me. I groan at her childish attitude and eat.
Later that day Valarie slams open my door and storms in.
'Seriously!' she yells.
I glare at her.
'Why do you do this to me?'
'Bec-'
'Because you'll hurt me? I've heard that too many times. You hurt me more by leaving. We get it you have memories you are tired. Boo fucking hoo, you're all fucken the same. When things get tough you all bail, I am trying to keep a Kingdom together. It doesn't help when the people I love act like children. I need you, I need my father. You know what, both you and Thor, are fucking two years old.'
'You finished?' I say coldly.
'You know what? Fuck you both, leave, just leave. Come back or don't, I can't give a fuck,' she walks out. 'Enjoy your new life asshole,' she says as she slams the door. I slam down the stuff in my hands in frustration. She didn't even let me get in a single word and she accused me of well incorrect things. I sit on the edge of my bed rubbing my head. What is going on with her? Is it because she had a-
'Quit asking yourself questions. It's getting annoying.'
I look up as Loki appears in front of me. 'Sometimes I need expert advice so yeah I ask myself questions. If you find it annoying, quit eavesdropping.'
Snow falls later that day. My father comes in and finds me standing out on my balcony over looking the forest where the pack house is.
'It's not supposed to be snowing,' he tells me.
I nod smirking. He goes to say something else but he decides against it and leaves me to the silence.
Raven you better get down to Valarie's home right away. She's full on packing boxes in her car and is getting ready to drive off.
Fine I groan and teleport behind Valarie while she starts to get in the car.
'So, what's all this for?' I ask.
'What do you think, Raven,' she spits out my name like I leave a bad taste in her mouth.
I force myself to take a deep breath and hold onto her car door. 'Your mother turns out not to be your real mother because your real mother is dead. Your dad needed to take some time to himself because he's lost everything but you and I want to leave but you won't let me because god forbid, I leave when it's a bad time. Look around you Valarie. It's always a bad time for you.'
'And I try to keep it together.'
'Yes, and you do a wonderful job of that. I'm leaving because you finally have a life. You finally have a family of your own, one that you want. God you even have a dad and uncle to look after you and help teach you to look after your people. Can't I go out and find my own life somewhere out there?' I ask gesturing to where the gates lie.
'Of course, but come back to me,' I reach out with my nonbroken hand and take hold of her shoulder. A small needle slips between my fingers and gently pricks her shoulder.
'What the fuck,' her speech starts slurring. I kneel down a little so I can watch her. She's safe. Her eyes close and her body falls limp. Loki comes over and pulls me out of the way. I watch on as he picks her up and carries her back inside. I follow after shutting the car and locking it.
'Was it really necessary to drug her?'
I shrug and throw the cars keys on the kitchen bench as we pass it. We walk into her bedroom and Loki lies her down on the bed than turns to me.
'Why did you drug her?'
'She wasn't thinking straight and obviously hasn't slept in ages.'
'How long does that drug last far?'
'About an hour,' I turn the bedroom lights off and walk out. 'Now help me unload the car and put everything back where it was before weirdo packed it all.'
'This isn't our problem. Why should we do that?'
'Because she needs to wake up too herself. This is her home. She can't just abandon it because she's having problems with her dad.'
