Kabanata 53
I'm packing my things. It's my resignation letter. I picked it up and sat on my bed, then I read it again.
Dear Ma'am Sandra and Sir Jace,
Good day. I just want to say thank you for the things that you did to me.
I shouldn't let those memories hold me back. Ayoko ng manirahan sa lugar na ito.
'Your mother is alive!'
Telling me that my mother is alive. How come?
"What present do you want to have on your 6th birthday?" Mommy Nathalie asked me while fixing my hair.
"Nah, Mommy. Just give me anything you want," I replied as I lick my lollipop.
She held my shoulders making me face her. "Anything?"
I nodded. "Yes, M'my. Anything."
She smiled and kissed my forehead. "Okay." She stood up and caressed my cheeks. "Go up now. Tell your babysitter to clean you up. Mommy is going to somewhere. Take care okay?"
I nodded, pouting my lips. She smiled at my reaction. "Mommy. I want to come with you."
She gently shook her head and move herself to level my height. "Mommy is going to be okay. You should take a rest, baby. Don't worry it won't take an hour."
I'm still pouting my lips. "But, mommy—"
"No buts, Baby." She stared at me and smile. A smile that doesn't reach her eyes. "You're beautiful, Ash." She then slightly combed my hair. "Do your best, baby. Okay? Make mommy proud. Don't use your strength to harm others. Use your brain to think what is right. I know you're still young, yet I know you already can understand. I love you, Baby..."
A single tear drop on my left eye. "Mommy, are you leaving me? Why are you saying those words?"
"No, Baby..." She immediately wiped her unshed tears. "Go up now. Rest. Mommy will be alright."
"Are you sure?"
She nodded. "Yes, baby."
With shoulders down, I went up into my room and told my babysitter to take me a bath. I was about to enter my room when I heard a gun shot. Yes. A gun shot. I know it is since my father's favorite hobby is gun shooting.
Fear surround me. My heart beats fast as I heard the scream of the one of our maids followed by my babysitter's. Blank mindedly, I run downstairs and I saw my mom. Holding her stomach as the man in mask keeps on sending bullets to her body.
