You've always been aware of your heart condition. It was something you were born with and you've taken medication for it for a while now. It sadly does affect some parts of your life; like you can't drink much alcohol.
When you started dating Taylor you immediately let her know about it and told her how you can't drink. She was understanding about it and always asked you if you were alright.
You've been together for about ten months now and tonight you were visiting her parents. You've met them before and you've hung out with them a lot, but they weren't aware of your heart condition. It wasn't a thing you told everyone right off the bat and it never really came up.
They were throwing a party for Austin tonight and you were really excited to be there with Taylor and her family.
You were sitting on Taylor's lap on the couch, giggling as she poked at your sides. Your giggles were interrupted by Scott coming into the room and offering you a drink, sitting down across from you and Taylor on the chair.
You looked at the drink and back at Scott, trying to think about how to tell him about your heart condition and how you couldn't have any alcohol when you heard Taylor start to speak up.
"She can't drink alcohol, dad." She wrapped her arms around your stomach and held onto you tightly, kissing your arm softly, hoping that it would reassure you that everything was fine.
"What? Why not? It's not bad."
"dad-"
you interrupted Taylor by shaking your head and setting the glass down on the coffee table in front of you.
"That's really nice of you to offer and I do appreciate it, but I can't drink. I have a heart condition so I'm not allowed to drink alcohol."
Scott looked between you and Taylor for a few seconds before he shook his head and stood up. He walked over to you and bent down to give you a hug, giving you a smile that told you he understood.
"I'm sorry y/n. I didn't know, but thank you for telling me. Trust me, no hard feelings. I'm happy you said no."
He walked out of the room leaving you and Taylor alone once again.
"I'm so happy you said no."
She kissed your neck and you giggled, beginning to lose your train of thought.
"Me too. I know I can't drink and I won't risk it."
You felt her smile against your skin, so relieved and proud that you said no.
