The past few weeks have been rough to say the least. Your stress and anxiety worse than it had been in a long time and you couldn't stop yourself from relapsing.
You felt ashamed because you've worked so hard to stay clean but it was as if it was out of your control and you couldn't stop it from happening.
As soon as you did it you felt ashamed and you've been trying so hard to stop again, but it was nearly impossible to do on your own.
You wanted to tell Taylor so badly because you know at the end of the day, she's truly the only person that would never judge you for anything you could or would do.
You knew you needed to tell her. You needed her to hold you and remind you that you can move forward from here, that you were capable of getting past this because you've done it before.
She was sitting on the couch writing some lyrics down in her notebook, her eyes darting up when she heard you walking down the stairs.
She greeted you with a smile, one that always made you smile back at her, except today you couldn't. She frowned when you sat down next to her wordlessly.
She set her notebook down next to her and turned to face you, noticing that your hands were shaking. She grabbed them in hers and looked at you, moving closer to you so she could touch your face with her hands.
She saw a tear fall from your eye and she was quick to wipe it away with her thumb, her fingers continuing to stroke your face. "Darling, what's going on?"
You looked up at her with tears in your eyes, the guilt and shame eating you up inside.
"I need to tell you something. Something...serious. Please don't be mad at me, Tay."
She shook her head and frowned at you, wondering how you could ever think she would ever be upset at you.
"You know I'd never get mad at you. Tell me what's bothering you baby."
You bit your lip and sobbed, fearing that she'd be disappointed at what you were about to tell her.
"I... I relapsed. I'm sorry, Taylor. I'm so sorry."
Taylor looked at you then down at her lap then down at your wrists, rolling the sleeve of her hoodie that you were wearing up your arm to find that you really had relapsed and her instincts kicked in almost immediately, pulling you into her arms as you cried into her chest about how sorry you were.
"Look at m,e darling."
You pulled away with tears in your eyes, looking at her to find that she had tears in hers as well.
"Don't apologize y/n. This isn't your fault, okay. It was just a slip up. You're strong enough to get past this baby, I know you are."
You nodded your head, looking down at her shirt only for her to place her fingers under your chin to get you to look back up at her.
"You're not mad at me? Or disappointed?"
She shook her head and kissed your cheek, wiping the tears away. "Never. I don't think there's anything in this world that you could do that could make me get upset at you, and most definitely not this. You made a mistake, honey. You know I'd never hold that against you."
You leaned forward and rested your head on her shoulder, mumbling 'thank you's' into her shirt.
"No need to thank me, babydoll. You're my girl and more than that, you're human. It's okay to slip up, that's normal. We're gonna get you some help baby and I'm gonna be right by your side the whole time, okay?"
You nodded your head and a smile appeared on your face when Taylor began to kiss the scars on your wrist, reassuring you that she loved you just the same and that you weren't alone.
"Just promise me one thing?"
You nodded your head, her eyes meeting yours making you smile again.
"If you ever feel like doing this again, whether it's five hours from now or five months or five years, you'll come to me, okay? There's nothing you can't tell me and there's nothing you could ever do that would make me look at you any differently or love you any less. I love you so much and I want you to feel that you can talk to me about anything at any time."
You kissed her cheek and nodded your head, her fingers running over your scars as she reminded you that she loves you and that you're just as beautiful as you've always been to her.
This was just a lapse in judgment and as long as Taylor would be there for you, you'll always be able to get through anything.
