11 | Never Just Sex

The next evening, [Y/N], Genma, Kakashi, and Asuma were about halfway to their destination when they decided to set up camp for the night. The day had been rather uneventful and quiet as they traveled, with few words exchanged, much to [Y/N]'s disappointment. They'd all just finished dinner and Asuma retired to his tent almost immediately, saying he was exhausted. Kakashi followed suit soon after and [Y/N] and Genma sat together beside their small fire, talking to one another.

"I'm sorry Asuma isn't talking much. I know it's awkward. I thought this would be a good chance to make him come around."

"Baby, you can't make him come around. He'll do it in his own time. I'm sure it's not easy for him."

"I just want him to like you as much as I do. I want him to be okay with this so that I can have him around too."

"Just let him take his time and it'll work out, okay? Patience, baby." Genma wrapped his arm around her and kissed her temple.

[Y/N] leaned into his touch, wrapping her arms under his and around his waist. She breathed him in, enjoying the quiet around them. The evening was crisp and clear, not too warm or too cold. The bugs were chirping around them, making the evening calm and relaxing. She closed her eyes and sighed, laying her head on Genma's shoulder. He smiled down at her before resting his head on hers.

"Genma? If I had said no to you that first night we were together, would you have been angry with me?"

"Absolutely not."

"Really?"

"Really. Baby, you are not here just for sex. At the end of the day, it's your body and it's your decision. If you had said no, then I would've respected that and walked away."

"Even if we were already at my apartment?"

"Even if we were in the middle of it and you told me to stop and leave, then I would've stopped and left. I would never do anything you're uncomfortable with. That was true then and it's true now. When we're together like that, it's only because you let me."

"Is that why you kiss my forehead and thank me after every time?"

Genma chuckled a little, pulling her in closer to him. "Yeah, it is. I know it's a little silly, but I like for you to know that I am grateful for each time you trust me enough to let me in like that."

"You know, some men seem to think they're entitled to sex."

"And I think that idea is so disrespectful to women. I would never do something like that to you. I never want to put you in a situation where you felt like you have to have sex, or, well, do anything you don't want to."

"Really?"

Genma pulled back and looked into his girlfriend's eyes. He studied them for just a moment, making sure she knew he was being completely serious with her right now. "Of course, [Y/N], I would never hurt you, you know that. I was raised better than that. You deserve the world baby, and as long as you'll have me, I intend to do my best and give you the world." He leaned in and kissed her head. "And if I'm being perfectly honest with you, despite what I said, you were never just sex. I was head over heels for you before I even realized it."

Little did they know, Asuma had heard the entire conversation and he had to admit, he was impressed with Genma.
