48 | So Help Me Kakashi

[Y/N] and Kakashi had asked Asuma to lunch the next day to tell him the news. As they'd assumed, he brought along Kurenai. They all sat together eating when [Y/N] looked up at Kakashi and couldn't help but to grin and blush slightly, which both Asuma and Kurenai noticed. They watched Kakashi respond by smiling back so big his eye crinkled up.

Asuma looked between them for a few seconds, eyeing each of them before sitting back in his chair. "Okay, you two. You've been acting a little strange since we sat down. What's going on?"

[Y/N] held Kakashi's hand under the table and squeezed it gently. She looked back up at him and couldn't help but to smile again. She then turned her head to look at her brother. "Well, we have some exciting news to share. You see, we—"

"Are you pregnant? So help me, Kakashi..."

Kakashi's eyes went wide and he held his hands up in defense. [Y/N]'s eyes went wide before she facepalmed and rubbed her forehead. "I swear, Asuma," she looked up at her brother, shaking her fist at him slightly, "You're just about stupid."

Asuma sat forward, ready to shoot back at her. Kurenai and Kakashi sat and watched as the two siblings went back and forth at each other, both secretly enjoying the show. Asuma pointed at his sister accusingly. "It was an honest question!"

"Who just blurts that kind of thing out like that? Are you kidding?"

"Well, that's the first thing that came into my head."

"Do you always say the first thing that pops into your head? Or do you ever, I don't know, think?"

"I do think! For example, I think you still haven't said that you aren't pregnant, so..."

"For the love of... Asuma, I'm not pregnant."

"Are you sure? Because what else could you be talking about like that?"

"Moving in. We're moving in together."

"Oh." Asuma rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"Yeah, big mouth. Hush up next time."

The two finally sat back in their seats, staring at one another for a moment. Asuma pursed his lips and furrowed his eyebrows. [Y/N] crossed her arms and raised one eyebrow, also pursing her lips. Anyone looking in could definitely tell that they were brother and sister. Finally, Asuma sighed and shrugged, leaning forward to take a bite of his food."So you're moving in together, huh? Isn't a bit soon?"

"We've been together over two years now. How long exactly would you like us to wait?"

"Two years? Already? Are you sure?"

"We're pretty sure. I mean, we've been there for most of it, so."

"Well, hmm. I guess it's alright then." Asuma shrugged and took another bite.

Kurenai and Kakashi finally sat back themselves and sighed, the excitement dying down. Kurenai looked between Asuma and [Y/N] and laughed to herself. "I swear, you two going back and forth like that. It is just so entertaining, don't you think, Kakashi?"

Kakashi laughed a little too. "Sure. It always reminds me of when Asuma first came back to the village all those years ago, you remember? These two were at each other's throats for weeks."

[Y/N] scoffed. "He came back here acting like he owned the damn place! Someone had to put him in his place."

Asuma rolled his eyes. "Oh, and it was you who needed to?"

"Well, looking back, I believe that I did put you in your place."

"Whatever," Asuma rolled his eyes, "Look, let's get back to our topic at hand. You two are really gonna be moving in together, huh? That is some news."

"Yeah, we really are." Kakashi smiled and put his hand on [Y/N]'s.

Asuma looked down at their hands and realized that they must've been getting closer over the past few years. Just because he hadn't seen it doesn't mean it wasn't happening. But this... from Kakashi? He never thought he'd see that day that Kakashi would actually put in work for a serious relationship (and especially not with his sister). He'd always wanted Kakashi to find someone to take care of him, but to see it actually happening...

"Kakashi, don't take this the wrong way, but I didn't really, you know, ever expect this from you."

"Asuma! For the love of all that is good and holy..." [Y/N] glared at her brother but was surprised to hear Kakashi laughing.

"It's okay [Y/N]. To be honest, I didn't expect this from myself either. I didn't think I would ever become so fortunate as to find someone like you and let my guard down again. It is surprising, to say the least."

"Well, Asuma needs to cool his jaw. Think before he speaks, you know?"

"Hey!" Asuma protested, but [Y/N] ignored him, grinning at Kakashi.

"You know what? I think he's just trying to get out of helping me move all of my things."

"What? I have to do that again? Are you serious?!"
