It had been four days since Kakashi kissed her.

Day one. He couldn't believe it. He had finally kissed her and she kissed back. [Y/N] actually wanted him too. His training that day went by quickly because he couldn't help but to keep reliving it, relishing in the thought of it. His students could tell that he was distracted—of course, no less unbeatable—but were afraid to ask him about it (as though they'd get a real answer anyway). They assumed it was on some other important duties he had lined up. He went home and slept soundly that night.

Day two. She finally ran into Asuma, who commented on how unusually happy she was today. She smiled widely at him. "Well, it's hard not be!" Asuma grinned back, thrilled to see his little sister so excited. "Well, do you care to tell me why we are so happy?"

She pulled him to the side, away from everyone on the street. "Okay, so, don't be mad but, Kakashi kissed me! Asuma, he told me that he likes me!" She whisper-squealed to him. Honestly, Asuma was surprised that Kakashi had actually made his move, but was happy for them both nevertheless. He hugged his sister and jokingly said, "As long as that's all he did with you." [Y/N] groaned and smacked her brother on the arm, but her happiness just wouldn't die down.

Day three. He laid awake that night, having been woken abruptly from his nightmare. He was sweating and he struggled to control his breathing. What the hell was he thinking? He had surely let this go too far. After all, he had already lost everyone else that he'd ever really loved. He had sworn not to let anyone get to him like that again. He knew better than to do go through with this. It had to stop. He couldn't go through losing someone again.

Day four. That evening, he told her so. He couldn't do it. It was a mistake. He turned away so he wouldn't see the tears that built up in her eyes. "I'm sorry, [Y/N]." He left her standing on her front doorstep like that.

From there, he made his way down to the local bar and ordered a beer. That was exceptionally unlike him and Asuma told him so as he sat down beside him. "Celebrating I suppose? I heard you finally made your move with [Y/N]. I couldn't believe it, but I haven't seen her that happy in a while. I've been meaning to find you and ask you about it." Before Kakashi could respond, the bartender slid his beer in front of him and pushed a second to Asuma. He remained silent, not knowing if Asuma would allow him to walk out of here in one piece if he knew where he had just come from, how he had just shattered [Y/N]'s world... I haven't seen her so happy in a while... Was that true? Did he really make her that happy?

Asuma noticed that Kakashi was quiet and decided not to pursue the topic, knowing how private Kakashi could be. Instead he started rambling on about the chunin exams coming up. This went on for about twenty minutes before [Y/N] made her way just inside the door. Kakashi noticed her coming inside, no doubt looking for the comfort of her brother. She was still crying a little. Kakashi sighed and interrupted Asuma. "I think I should go. Just know that I'm sorry, Asuma."

Asuma looked confused as the silver haired ninja turned abruptly and went toward the back exit. It wasn't until he heard [Y/N] squeak out his name did he turn and see her reddened, puffy eyes. He forgot about lighting the cigarette in of his mouth and pulled his sister into his arms as she cried softly into his chest.

He tried his best to comfort her but couldn't get any kind of explanation out of her. He glared angrily at the door Kakashi had just slid through.

Kakashi, what did you do?
