Kakashi was grateful for each moment he spent with her. The last few weeks have been keeping him (and her... and all of their friends) very busy, what with a new Hokage, the tensions between Villages, the repairs that were still going on... The moments they were back in the village together (and not catching cats or mowing lawns) were the ones that he looked forward to and that kept him going even through pure exhaustion.

Like now, he and [Y/N] strolled through the village together, trying to walk off their lunch. He had offered to treat her since she had been gone for about a week now and had just returned that morning. They were careful to keep their contact casual, still hoping to keep their relationship private—despite the fact that Asuma had told Kurenai and Guy both already—which Asuma was of course chewed out for by his sister (not that the pair minded for them to know, it was more the fact that they knew how easily word spread, even by accident).

"Is Tsunade planning to send you back to the Sand Village again?" He asked her, glancing through his book.

"I really hope not. Tsunade is turning out to be a real slave driver."

Kakashi laughed and resisted the urge to put his arm around her shoulders. "I don't think you're supposed to say that."

She huffed anyway and was about to respond before Asuma and Kurenai came around the corner, looking pretty friendly. [Y/N] nudged Kakashi gently and nodded toward her brother. Kakashi looked up and smirked knowingly. "You know they're totally together, right?" She whispered to Kakashi, who gave her a knowing glance in return.

"Asuma!" [Y/N] called, startling her older brother and making him jump two feet away from Kurenai. He rubbed the back of his neck as [Y/N] and Kakashi caught up to them. "Uh, hey, [Y/N]. I thought you were still out of town."

"Got back this morning. I can see why you'd be so forgetful about that though." She said, smirking.

Kurenai blushed and Asuma rolled his eyes. "Look, if there's anyone we could be laughing about right now, it's you two. Are you all still acting like you're not together?"

[Y/N] frowned. "It's not like that. It's just—"

"The importance of privacy, blah blah blah. Yeah, yeah."

[Y/N] glared at her brother, who had already turned to Kakashi to start an entirely different conversation. [Y/N] huffed slightly and Kakashi brushed his hand against hers quickly but gently, making her calm down a little. She tried to focus on the conversation at hand, but it wasn't anything really concerning her. Instead she turned and looked down street.

She glanced toward the top of the hospital building, a bright light catching her eye. It looked like Kakashi's Lightning Bl—Wait. What is that? Is that...? That's...!

[Y/N] couldn't look away and she grabbed Kakashi's sleeve and pulled him back to her. He stumbled slightly, not expecting the sudden jerk. He looked at her quizzically, before his eyes followed hers, seeing what she was seeing.

"Kakashi... aren't those two yours?"

"Dammit."

And with that, he took off toward the building. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, Naruto and Sasuke going at one another. Sasuke should not have been using that jutsu like that, so recklessly. And Naruto, what the hell is he doing? A shadow clone won't help now... Wait, what's that in his hand? Is that... Oh! And Sakura—running to get right between them. There's no way they could stop now, she would be killed without a doubt if she gets there first.

He grunted and pushed himself harder, finally propelling himself to the top of the building. He made it just in time to grab Naruto and Sasuke's arms, spinning himself around to gather force and slinging them away from each other. Kakashi couldn't believe his eyes. Naruto, was that what I think it was?
