[Y/N] woke the next morning to a pounding on Kakashi's front door. Part of her was afraid that it might be Genma again, coming to quarrel with Kakashi again. As if he had the same thought, Kakashi was up out of the bed and marching toward the door before she could even react.

She relaxed when she heard Naruto's voice at the door. "Kakashi-sensei! I'm ready to resume my training! The hospital let me out! Come on, come on. Let's go!"

Kakashi sighed. "Right. Your training. Go find Te, er, Yamato, and get him to the training field. I'll meet you two out there in an hour."

"Sure thing, Kakashi-sensei! And don't be late this time!"

Kakashi shut the door and groaned loudly, making [Y/N] laugh. "Duty calls, huh?"

"That kid just doesn't give up. I guess I better be getting ready." Kakashi came back into his bedroom, leaning against the frame. "It sucks because you look so good in my bed."

[Y/N] blushed, pulling the blanket tighter around herself. "Kakashi, you're terrible! Go get ready! Naruto will be back and track you down if you're late."

Kakashi obliged, moving to his closet to pick out one of his uniforms. He dressed quickly while [Y/N] dug out some clothes of her own from the same drawer from last night.

When they were both dressed and ready, they made their way out of his apartment. He kissed her quickly before they headed out into the street, fooling himself into the idea that everything was back to normal again.

"I've got to be going if I'm going to be on time. Feel free to drop by, okay? Knowing Naruto, we'll be out there night and day." Kakashi said, taking her hand. He kissed it before smiling and disappearing. [Y/N] grinned to herself before making her way up the street.

Kakashi was definitely right. Naruto kept them out there night and day for the next couple days. They trained all day (well, Naruto did... Kakashi made major headway on his reading) and then camped out at night, ensuring Naruto got the quickest, earliest start the following morning.

[Y/N] busied herself in the village, helping with repairs, small missions, medical corps shortages, whatever she could. After the last few days between Kakashi and Genma, she needed the time to herself. She'd just managed to finish a few errands when she ran into a familiar face.

"Well, you seem to be in a good mood today." Kurenai said, coming out of a shop and seeing [Y/N].

"Oh, hey Kurenai! I'm... yeah, I'm better than I have been in a while. I think things might actually work out somehow." She smiled, taking Kurenai's arm. "How's, er, well... you know."

"Oh, very good. I had an appointment this morning actually. Healthy and growing just like they should. We should know the gender soon!"

"That's wonderful! I can't wait." [Y/N] beamed. "Speaking of, have you seen Asuma today?"

"He was at my appointment today with me, but Tsunade summoned him. Actually, she summoned quite a few squads this morning. I wonder what's going on...?"

"Quite a few? This close after an attack? Something's up. I'll see you around Kurenai! I'm gonna go report in and see if I can help."

"Sure. Be safe." Kurenai waved and [Y/N] took off toward Tsunade's office. She neglected to use the door, knowing there would be some kind of guard in the way. Instead, she dropped onto the small landing outside of Tsunade's office window, tapping on the glass.

Shizune jumped and yelped, backing away from the window. Tsunade merely rolled her eyes, turning in her chair to open the window.

"[Y/N]... There's a door for a reason." She said, seemingly annoyed.

"Yeah, yeah. The door's for people who need permission to see you."

"You think you don't need permission to take up my time?"

"As my god mother, no, I don't think so. Thanks for checking though." [Y/N] said, easing herself through the window. "Besides, I'm here to see why you send out twenty platoons this morning and didn't include me."

"I need to keep some of my forces in the village. I can't leave it completely unprotected."

"Fine. But why did you send out so many anyway?"

Tsunade sighed. "You're so very nosy... There was an Akatsuki attack at the Fire Temple. I send out twenty platoons to located the Akatsuki pair and contain them, or finish them."

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Akatsuki the reason you assembled Squad Zero? You didn't even summon us!" [Y/N] threw her hands up in frustration, glaring at Tsunade.

Tsunade narrowed her eyes. "Yamato is busy helping Kakashi with Naruto's training. It's essential that they succeed. Therefore, your squad leader is out. Genma is monitoring repairs at the main gate, so there's another member. That leaves you and Raido."

"Well, you could've sent me and Raido out. We could've taken Kotetsu and Izumo!"

"Raido, Kotetsu, and Izumo are all already out, Lady Sarutobi." Shizune said very matter-of-fact, earning a glare from Tsunade.

"What? So you just neglected to summon me altogether?" [Y/N] asked, raising her voice slightly.

"As a matter of fact, I was just about to summon you for a different assignment. My platoons are searching for the two Akatsuki in the Land of Fire. However, Jiraiya has new intel on the entire Akatsuki organization. I need you to meet up with him and retrieve that intel. You're the only one available that I trust with this."

"Seriously? Can't he just use a carrier bird—"

"I can't have Jiraiya sending such delicate information via carrier bird. There are too many enemies out there who would kill to have this information. This is an S-rank mission, [Y/N]."

[Y/N] stood up straighter at the sound of "S-rank" and grinned. "Alright, finally, some real action. When can I leave?"

"As soon as you're ready. Jiraiya was last in the Land of Wind. I've sent word ahead to let him know you're coming."

"Great. I've got to go home and get some things before I head out. Consider me gone in an hour."

Tsunade nodded. "Very well. This is an ANBU classed mission. Use your ANBU uniform and wear your mask. And don't use the front gate. It will draw to many eyes. Use the west gate to leave."

[Y/N] nodded and bowed. "Yes, Lady Tsunade."

"Be careful as you leave the Land of Fire, there are tensions at the borders right now. Do not interfere with the investigation of my platoons."

"Of course not, Lady Tsunade." [Y/N] smirked and moved to take her leave before the Hokage called out to her once more.

"Remember that because of this mission's class, you cannot tell anyone. That includes Kakashi."

"Right. Not even Kakashi..."

A/N: Still not made my mind up about the ending yet, but I think it's close? What do you all think? Cliffhanger/sequel? Split ending and done? Hmmm...
