Love Triangle: Kakashi vs. Genma

26 | First Date, Finally!

Kakashi sighed. He didn't actually expect to pass this team. Not that he didn't want to eventually pass one, but he didn't expect it to be this one. He had spent all morning with them, watching them and learning about their skills (which he expected would be lacking more than they actually were). But they had a long road ahead of them. And a busy one at that.

After walking his students back to the village, he joined his friends at the training ground again. This time, Asuma and Guy were already going at it, challenging [Y/N]. Kurenai stood to the side, watching intently. Kakashi walked up and stood beside her, greeting her accordingly and asking how it ended up two against one. She laughed. "You know Asuma. He wants his sister to be tough and ready for anything. He figured two against one would help do that... or at least knock her down a level and make her mad enough to train harder." Kakashi laughed, unsurprised. Kurenai laughed too. "You know, she had originally asked that he just help her work on her lightning technique, but here we are."

Kakashi raised his eyebrow. Lightning technique? When did she start learning that? His shock was evident on his face and Kurenai said so. "Maybe she should've waited and asked you instead, since you're a lightning user yourself. But she was anxious to get started, you know how she is."

"Yeah, I know," Kakashi chuckled, "but lightning too? That'll be her third chakra nature."

"She wants Asuma to respect her and she figured if she can learn three then he'll stop being so overprotective. This third chakra nature will more than likely be the last nature she can manage, if she does learn it at all. Maybe you should offer to help her sometime, make sure she doesn't over do it."

Kakashi nodded in agreement before turning to watch the match again. Kurenai offered to spar with Kakashi, which he accepted. It went well until Kakashi had jumped back into Guy, who took it as a challenge and then it was suddenly every man for himself. The five of them went up against one another for a few hours, until it was getting dark. When they split, it was once again Kurenai and Asuma, and [Y/N] and Kakashi. Not that any of them were complaining.

Kakashi offered to take [Y/N] for dinner, which she gladly accepted. As she gathered up her stuff, Asuma and Guy came up behind Kakashi, getting on either side of him. Guy grinned and laughed to himself while Asuma clapped his back and teased him. "So... first date then?" When Kakashi's eye widened, Guy elbowed his ribs jokingly. "Alright Kakashi!" The man in the middle sighed. "No, nothing like that. Just dinner, since her brother is apparently busy this evening."

Asuma's smile dropped but then he shrugged it off. "At least I'm not afraid to make a move." He laughed and Kakashi smirked. "Asuma, do you really want to stand here and lecture me about making moves on your sister?" Asuma dropped his smile again, pursed his lips and stared at Kakashi before he grunted and walked away, leaving the other two him standing there. Guy winked and walked on ahead as well. [Y/N] stopped and said her goodbyes to her brother and Guy before running to meet Kakashi.

They had decided to eat light for dinner, stopping for a salad and soup rather than ramen again. Kakashi couldn't help how much he enjoyed being in her presence. She didn't make him feel like a stranger or like he had to impress her or act any differently than who he was. She made him feel... whole? He didn't know if that was the right word, he hadn't felt that in so long. Maybe that's what it was or maybe not. Either way, he enjoyed the feeling.

"So, lightening release, huh?" He asked.

"Kurenai told you, then?" She said, rubbing the back of her head.

"Yeah, she did. You could've told me too you know. I'd be more than happy to help."

"I know. I was going to ask you about it, but I didn't want to bother you."
